False Prophetess Jennifer Leclaire Plays the Victim

Thus says the Lord of hosts: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. - Jeremiah 23: 16 (ESV)

The beauty of having a national platform on which to write is you can do damage control with impunity. You can loft yourself above any criticisms without addressing the real problem. While I would expect that from the carnal world, it becomes more disappointing when it comes from people who claim the mantle of Christianity. Such is the case today with Charisma News' resident false prophetess Jennifer Leclaire. It seems Jennifer has taken some heat lately for her ridiculous false prophecies. Instead of taking an honest look at herself, she has decided instead to use her column to play the victim card. Here is her latest article:

http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/watchman-on-the-wall/44751-yes-christians-spew-the-most-hateful-internet-speech

Let me say up front that I agree with Jennifer about the cover story for this piece. Christians often spew the most hateful type of speech I have ever seen. They do engage in ad hominem attacks and if anyone truly called her some of the things Leclaire alleges, they would obviously be wrong. The problem is that Jennifer lays that as the foundation to draw sympathy to her cause and then shifts in the middle of the article from people who attack her to people who correctly criticize her.

Just this past weekend, a man on my Facebook page went on a rant because I dared to suggest that there is hope for America.

I was going to reprint the entire "rant" but decided that was not really the point. You can read it for yourself. It is not a personal attack upon Leclaire but rather on her "prophecy." When you are trying to play the victim though you cannot let a little thing like facts get in the way. The other telling thing here is the notion that she is being attacked "because I dared to suggest that there is hope for America." No Jennifer, you were correctly criticized because you claimed God told you something that was impossible for God to have told you:

"On April 21, 2007, the Lord woke me up at midnight and I sensed Him offering this prophetic word: There is a great awakening coming to this nation. For I have heard your cries and I long to heal your land. I am a covenant God and I will not forget the covenant I made with your Founding Forefathers."

Now Jennifer, I understand where you are confused. You have bought into the false paradigm that God is somehow in covenant with America. He is not. He never has been. You need to open your Bible and maybe take a non-Christian based history class. Some of the founding fathers were protestants of varying kinds but some were deists and some were atheists. Is America the best hope in a carnal world gone mad? Sure but that leaves it far far away from the cause of Christ. So you presented a false prophecy Jennifer. You claimed that God is somehow going to change His entire plan for judgment if the people in this country would just behave better. Their problem is not behavioral Jennifer, it is relational. You claimed here that God spoke to you! That God said He was going to honor a covenant He never made. Do you understand the gravity of such a claim? In the Old Testament you would be stoned to death! This is not some game Jennifer. When your ranting reader said it is wrong to offer false hope he was right! This despite your continued protests and self victimization:

I've decided to do what Quinn does and not read the comments. (So if you are planning to send me a nasty email, save your time. I'm not going to read it.) Sure, I accidentally stumble upon some of the nasty slime now and again, but overall I hit the "delete" button. The late Steve Hill counseled me not to allow the enemy to plant those seeds in my soul and to continue charging forward in the name of Jesus, and that's just what I'm doing.

That is a real responsible way to learn and grow. Only listen to those who pat you on the back and agree with everything you say. Wow. The more telling thing here is your mentioning of Steve Hill, who is remembered greatly for his involvement in two false revivals, Brownsville and Toronto. You remember those Jennifer? The ones where people would be rolling around on the ground barking like dogs or convulsing uncontrollably and blaming it on the Holy Spirit? Do you support that Jennifer? Wait, I assume you must since in your own bio tag line you admit to being the Director of IHOP Ft. Lauderdale. That is the same Kansas City IHOP that is renowned for their absurdly heretical teachings and prophecies right? Mike Bickle? The same IHOP that warps young Christians minds with the false bridal paradigm? You know, that produces over sexualized worship music with lyrics such as this:

For God is a Lover
Looking for a lover so He fashioned me

The same IHOP that is preparing Christian youth to take over the world through heretical dominionist teachings? Yeah Jennifer, you may keep charging forward but stop deluding yourself into thinking it is in the name of Jesus.

You surround yourself with some of the most heretical and false teachers and prophets of our day. Then you claim God spoke to you but He said something that contains such glaring factual inaccuracies that it is obvious that God did not say any such thing to you. You are like the prophets from the days of Jeremiah from our key verses. You fill people with vain hopes. You speak of visions but they come from your own mind; not from the mouth of the Lord. By the way Jennifer. I am not even implying intent. You may truly believe that you are a prophetess. You may truly believe that you hear from the Lord. I assume you truly do love this country. You seemed to have forgotten however that your true citizenship is in heaven and that you are but a pilgrim and sojourner in this land. I know that none of this matters because you will only hit the delete button but maybe someone who is thinking of following you can now be correctly warned. Whether by design, intent, or deception - you are a false prophet. I say that not out of glee or malice but out of fact and love for the Body of Christ. You have prophesied things that are untrue. You have spoken on behalf of the Lord falsely. Forget about me or someone who you think is ranting against you on your blog comment page. You have much bigger problems than that:

Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, declares the Lord, and who tell them and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or charge them. So they do not profit this people at all, declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 23: 32 (ESV)

Take heed Jennifer.

Rev. Anthony.
