Joseph Prince; The King of Eisegeses

By       (Page 2 of 3 pages)   1 comment

In here Prince correctly condemns the movie made recently about Noah. I agree with him that it was a travesty and not even close to the Biblical record. Unfortunately, he then goes on to preach, where he usually finds himself in trouble. We see early on his agenda when he claims that the movie maker made God out to be angry and mean and he hates that they "misrepresent his god." Realize as we pointed out that this is at the heart of the hyper-grace deception. It seeks to candy coat God. That He is all puppies and rainbows and that he is always pleased with what we do. Well, let's see what the Bible actually says:

The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them." But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. - Genesis 6: 5-8 (ESV)

Gee, that sure seems like God is angry. Some might even view His decision to kill every living creature on earth except one family and one pair of each species as being mean. The movie Noah was so wrong on many things but I think when God decides to wipe out the entire human race it can be safe to say He was displeased. But again realize that Prince is setting up his theology, not dividing the Word of God as an approved worker.

Prince starts to discuss Cain and Abel and once again we see his pre-formed bias when he claims that the first murder was over "religion." This is a common staple among many new preachers. They embody religion but openly condemn it as evil. If you dare speak against the teacher it is because you are "religious." It is an intellectually and Biblically vacuous position to hold. Prince also reads the devil into Cain's decision, which is nowhere in the text. What is in the text is that Cain was angry with God for accepting his brother's offering and not his own. Anger as Jesus would teach us later, is the root cause of murder.

Moving along, we see Prince begin to teach the fallen angel interpretation of the "sons of God" verses in Genesis 6. Then he jumps off a theological cliff by proclaiming that all of the people on the earth were eventually these hybrid creatures, the Nephilim. That the only pure bred humans left was Noah and his family. Really? This is eisegesis on steroids. As I was wondering why he would make such a silly claim Prince brought this false teaching around full circle to support hyper-grace. He claims that because Noah was the only pure-bred human left God actually sent the flood to preserve humanity; not to punish wickedness! His assertion is that the flood was a display of the grace and mercy of God to preserve the human race instead of being a display of His wrath against wickedness. Wow. only in the world of hyper grace can the flood be perverted into an act of God's love for man. Let us again allow the Bible to be our plumb line for refuting this heresy:

When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown. - Genesis 6: 1-8 (ESV)

God is pretty clear here. The offspring of the daughters of men and the sons of God are called the Nephilim. When He is speaking about man in general, he is equally clear. So what did the Lord see that grieved Him in His heart and made Him decide to send the flood? The wickedness of MAN. He regretted that He made MAN. The thoughts of MAN were evil continually. Not only that beloved but who does God say He will blot out by the flood? Man whom I have created! God did not create the Nephilim - they were the offspring of the fallen angels and the daughters of man. There is no question that the conclusion drawn by Prince, that Noah was the only pure bred human left, is simply not supported by the Biblical text. So Prince doubles down on his heresy by perverting the next verse as well:

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. - Genesis 6: 9 (KJV))

Prince claims that because the word used here for perfect mean unblemished, that it must mean that he was the only pure breed left. Never mind that this is nowhere in the text and the surrounding context debunks this notion completely. Never mind that the commentators throughout history have deemed this to men perfect in the sense of integrity. No beloved, when you are seeking to prove your own version of the truth instead of allowing the truth of God to speak to you, nothing matters except being able to say you were right.
