Time To Surrender The War on Christmas

By       (Page 2 of 2 pages)   1 comment

Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. -- Ephesians 6: 11-12 (NLT)

The store manager, school district, or local politician is not our enemy beloved. They are merely blinded by the ruler of this world. Our job is to bring the light of Christ into that darkness -- not yell at him because he is blind. But look here at who is our enemy. Evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world. Evil spirits in heavenly places. Do you think for one second they care if the world has a nativity scene or not? But the enemy will use it to distract us; yes he will. The arguments are also ignorant. How could they not be? We are making a spiritual argument to a carnal world system.

The purpose of the enemy using these things to distract us is twofold. One, it prevents us from doing what we should be doing -- spreading the Gospel. Secondly however is that it starts fights. Servants of the Lord must not be found quarreling. We cannot get to any of these other points in this devotional if we are too busy fighting. We will not be kind or patient. We will not be found to be gentle or ready to teach. We will not reach anyone for Christ. No one gets saved by arguing. This is the scheme of the enemy though. To have Christians drive a wedge between themselves and the very people they are charged with reaching for Jesus. When we stand before Christ He is not going to want to hear how we championed the cause to have a manger set up at Wal-Mart.

Christmas is a beautiful time because whether the whole world wants to admit it or not, we all stop to acknowledge the birth of the Savior of all mankind. People who do not know the Lord sing Christmas carols; filled with some of the deepest and most profound theology known to man.

Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"

Glory indeed! You don't want the manger in the town square? No problem. You prefer to only say happy holidays? Knock yourself out. War on Christmas? I surrender. Now"let me tell you about Jesus"
