A Steadfast Faith

By       (Page 3 of 5 pages)   No comments

We may not like the method of deliverance, the time the deliverance takes, or the end result may not match up to what we thought it would look like but once again, that is where our faith must be active in our lives. Our faith need only see the next step. God sees all. God knows if that promotion you are hoping for will help or hurt you. God knows if that relationship you are hoping for will work for His glory or not. You cannot allow the enemy to speak the spirit of discouragement into your hearts just because your prayer did not work out as you had hoped. God still knows better. That is faith.

In regards to God taking too long; He never does. God is always exactly on time. He is never late and never early. I am sure that Joseph must have thought God was a bit late when he spent 13 years in prison for something he did not do but God knew Joseph was there. God knew what He was preparing Joseph for. Joseph would ascend to the Prime Ministership of Egypt and be the person God would use to deliver the Israelites from a deadly seven year famine. But Joseph had to come to grips with a lot of issues, such as being sold into slavery by his brothers and being betrayed into prison by Potiphar's wife. If he had escaped after only seven years, he would not have been equipped to be the Prime Minister. He would not have been ready to lead. God stepped in at just the right moment and He does the same thing in our lives as well. Faith is believing that while we cannot see God at work, we know He is. Faith is knowing that God knows better and will step in at the right time according to His will, not ours.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

It is the opposite of what the world espouses. The world demands proof faith believes. Going back to the key verse, God tells us two things He will never do and these are reasons why He says we should not fear nor be discouraged. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. While similar, leaving can imply temporarily. Sometimes we can feel as if God is somehow more distant from us than He once was. An often heard Christian saying reminds us that if you feel God is more distant, it wasn't God who moved.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

If you want to rest in the shadow of God, you must choose to dwell in His shelter. You must choose to seek a relationship with Him through Prayer. You must choose to cultivate that relationship through reading His Word. God will never leave you beloved. He is always right where you left Him, waiting for you to come back and dwell in His shelter again.

Similarly, God also assures us that He will never forsake us either. The dictionary defines forsake as:

To quit or leave entirely; abandon; desert
