FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
I am a Credentialed Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the Assemblies of God. I have been saved since 2002. I have served and led various ministries in the course of my walk with the Lord. Media, Television, Projection, Baptism, Hospitality and Small Group Leader are just some of the activities the Lord has led me to.
I took my first Berean Bible Institute course in 2004 and during it God called me to be a Minister. I was a lot like Jonah initially; as I would prefer to write than speak. But God always has a better plan. I suffered for seven years in my 20's from a panic disorder and my greatest fear was always public speaking. God knew that if I was going to be able to preach, I would have to draw even closer to Him. I am never more dependent upon God than when I speak. But it always starts with small obedience before the grander picture unveils. The Bible says that His Word is a lamp unto our feet because true faith needs only to see the next step God has for us.
The burden God has placed on my heart is for discipleship. I saw the Reverend Jim Wallis once speak in Washington and he said that the modern Pentecostal Church has become very adept at dragging the bodies out of the water (salvation) but at some point we need to go downstream and see why they keep jumping back in (discipleship)! I have seen and witnessed too many Christians who are literally crawling into heaven. Jesus came to give us life more abundantly now. We are supposed to live the eternal life now. I do not say this as a means to lend credibility to the "bless me now" theology that has so permeated our churches but rather understanding that if we walk upright with God then our service unto Him is more effective. When our service is more effective, more lives are brought to the foot of the cross.
I started writing devotionals several years ago. The first 52 I wrote were all based on Psalms. Since then the Lord has expanded my writing. The first devotional I did was two pages long and someone commented that I needed to break it up. I prayed and felt the Lord impress upon me that if people did not have 15 minutes for Him, then that was not my concern. So these are longer than typical devotionals. Now they are about four pages in length. But because of that, there is usually only one per week. So we have a whole week to digest and allow God to speak to us. In a world where devotionals are often a passing paragraph, these will force us to spend a little time with the Lord.
I say us because when I write, God is always ministering to me first. Like the Apostle Paul, I have not yet attained all or gotten a hold of why God got a hold of me. I claim no mastery over anything, even language and grammar as I am often criticized for loving the comma too much. When it comes to the work of God -- of these I am the least. I just pray that the website blesses you in some way and that God is glorified through you living your faith as He intended you to. God bless.
