I must admit that reviewing the teachings of certain heretics is more work than others. Joseph Prince for example is so slimy in teachings because the majority of what he teaches is accurate but the traces of leaven will send you straight to hell. Some are just mystically confusing like Bill Johnson, where first you must struggle understanding what he said from a linguistic standpoint and then you can move on to biblically debunking it. Then there are others that are more like low hanging fruit and Kris Vallotton is one of those. I am unsure if I have ever seen him correctly use a scripture. Seriously. He is so over the top in his heresies that he should be able to discern for all yet so many people follow him and Bethel. He eviscerates bible fragments and creates erroneous and absurd theologies out of whole cloth. He writes books about how much God wants you rich and is so NAR dominionist focused that it is unclear if he even understands that there is another life after this. Let us reason through the above linked article from Kris where he invokes multiple heresies in pursuit of Christians leveraging God to become more powerful leaders in this world. I kid you not.

"Have you ever wondered why the most creative, innovative, inventive, intelligent, and gifted leaders in the world often aren't Christians? Think about it. Consider your own life for a moment. Are you leading with out of the box ideas and forging new pathways in the emphasis you're called to? For some of you reading this, I'm confident that you are. But, the vast majority of Believers, on some level, are astutely aware that they are not tapping into their full potential. Many are haunted by the sense that there's more, though they don't know how to breakthrough or worse yet, they're afraid to let go of what they innately know is not God's portion." - Kris Vallotton

Kris starts off with a little purpose driven heresy. Haunted by the sense there is something more? That is straight out of Rick Warren theology. God's portion? For the prosperity junkie Kris is, portion refers to all the temporal goodies God can give him. As they key verse shows us however, God is our portion. That means God is enough. That is why we hope in the Lord and not the trinkets and baubles of this earth. Not for people like Kris and the NAR though. Vallotton has literally written entire books on the subject of how God wants you to be rich. He even invented the insidious theology of a poverty mindset. To Kris poor people choose to be poor. They think poor, therefore they are poor. It is a disgusting teaching that denigrates people and forces them to blame themselves. Look, not everyone is going to be rich and in fact most will never be so. Jesus teaches how hard it is for a rich man to even enter the kingdom of heaven. Matters not to Kris Vallotton, forever seeking carnality and confusing it with God's portion.

"The fact of the matter is modern-day Believers hold tightly to their theologies and can recite them with conviction, yet if you haven't noticed, their noble principles fail to be fruitful. So the million-dollar question remains, if we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), if we are seated in heavenly places with an advantaged perspective (Ephesians 2:6) why aren't Believers leading in every realm of society?" - Kris Vallotton

Moving on now to straight up NAR dominionism and the seven-mountains mandate. The NAR believe Christians need to influence and lead secular society. Notice what he does here however because another Vallotton trademark is the absolute butchering of God's word. He mocks those that insist on solid theology by declaring them to somehow not be "fruitful" because they are not wealthy. If he understood the bible of course he would know that being fruitful has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with kingdom matters, not earthly matters. Not content, he mangles two other scriptures. To Kris, we should leverage our position in Christ and the fact that we have the mind of Christ to become rich and powerful. The verse from 1Corinthians has to do with understanding the things of God. Who can understand them except he who has the mind of Christ? How ironic and sad that Kris cannot see that he does not understand the things of God because he actually does not have the mind of Christ. What Kris does to the Ephesians verse however is biblically criminal:

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. - Ephesians 2:4-7 (ESV)

Do these verses have anything to do with worldly pursuits? Of course not. The actual verse he cites explains that we are expressly seated in heavenly places for the next world, not this one. The immeasurable riches are of His grace in kindness towards us. This is about repentance from sin, not a formula to give us an advantage in carnal affairs.

"I propose one reason why Believers aren't the visionaries and the catalysts they were designed to be is because religion has taken the place of revelation. All too often, the divine wisdom we get from God becomes imprisoned in our hearts, guarded by the spirit of religion and taunted by the fear of man. The triumphant call on us to rise and shine with ageless wisdom and supernatural power ultimately wastes away in the confines of mediocrity. This disconcerting demise has reduced those who are designed to be the most brilliant people on the planet to an echo rather than a voice." - Kris Vallotton

Yet another calling card of Vallotton and the NAR is this made up teaching about a religious spirit. They concoct this nonsense because they believe in experiential Christianity - that is what Kris refers to as "revelation." They teach that what we experience is equal or superior to scripture. The worship leader from the heretical outfit known as Jesus Culture also is a congregant of Bethel Church, where Vallotton works. She claims she had a waking visitation from Jesus who whisked her away to the throne room where she met the Father face to face. The rest of the tale is equally demonic but this portion is simply unbiblical. The bible says no man can see God and live. That is why God gave us His word. Just see how much Kris thinks of himself. This is the end result of the showy look at me spirit that infects his theology. We are not called to shine with ageless wisdom and supernatural power. To Kris, biblical maturity is just the confines of mediocrity. Once again it is because he does not understand the things of God. The bible explains we are sheep Kris, not that we are destined to be the most brilliant people on the planet. I would rather echo the word of God than think my voice was special in any kind of way.

"Maybe you've forgotten 2 Corinthians 5:17 that says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." The word new here is the Greek word kainos, which can be translated as "prototype"--something never before created. This means you are an original; a one of a kind! If that sounds like an overused cliche then you probably don't get it. As Believers, we've been born-again...we have a new heart and a new mind. In fact, we have the mind of Christ (2 Corinthians 2:16). With that being said, it's paramount that as Believers we begin to press into the reality of our theology!" - Kris Vallotton

Sigh. Remember that Kris has made the point of this to be cultural warriors and leaders. When we hear from teachers we must be compelled to test everything according to Thessalonians and keep what is good. We test to see if what we are being taught lines up with what God has taught. So let's take a look at the context of the verse Kris is abusing here:

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2Corinthians 5:16-21 (ESV)

Any plausible reading of these verses must conclude they have nothing to do with being empowered to conquer cultural mountains or serve in various leadership positions. Talk about missing the point! This is again about the repentance of our sins and how once we are a new creation, we are ambassadors for Christ! Not in relation to leading in this world but leading others to the eternal through the Gospel. Kris is once again focused on the wrong life, as are all dominionists. God is trying to lead them out of Sodom and Gomorrah but like Lot's wife, they keep looking back.

"Ephesians 3:20 says that God is able to do "far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think." This is why we should be eager to develop a life in the Spirit, as it gives us access to God's heart, ways, and thoughts. Even with everything going on in the world around us, God is giving you permission to dream bigger, in fact, it's uncertain times like these that our gifts should be leading us in unprecedented ways. It's time for Believers to start thinking like God instead of thinking about God. It's time for us to be the cultural architects, the imagineers and visionaries of our time." - Kris Vallotton

This is what makes people like Vallotton so dangerous. He knows enough bible fragments to dupe undiscerning minds and baby Christians with words that while sounding reasonable are pure anathema to those who actually understand the word of God. The purpose of developing a life in the spirit has nothing to do with becoming architects, imagineers and visionaries for this world. The gifts of the spirit are given by the spirit, so the comment that they should be leading us is inane. You must understand that Kris believes that every believer can develop all of the gifts. He even teaches at a fake supernatural school at Bethel which is built on this heretical principle. He thinks he can teach you to prophesy! Did you get that? Kris Vallotton believes he can teach to you receive direct revelation from God. How blasphemous. If you think that God sent His only Son to suffer the horrors of the cross so that you can dream bigger about how to become a bloated sense of self-importance in this world then I fear for your salvation. Notice the subtle dig again at people who want to study the word of God. We merely want to "think about God." No Kris, we want to follow Him. We want to be about His business. You claim it is time we start thinking like God and you have yet to correctly use one verse He has written.

"In closing, I want to leave you with two immediate actions that help you to lead the way in your sphere of influence:

Develop a culture that allows you to think. The Hebrews writer in chapter 6 verse 1 said, "Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God..." Believers need to create cultures that allow the exploration of God's ideas! Let me be clear, I'm not talking about coming up new theologies or getting more mystical. I'm simply saying that God has equipped us to access real solutions that solve the problems of nations, we just need to mature into His way of thinking and we need one another to grow with." - Kris Vallotton

Sphere of influence, ugh. Just another NAR nonsense term. Kris provides one more scripture he does not understand here in closing. Maturity in Christ is entirely related to doctrine not cultural revolution. It is not about coming up with new theologies but rather the right ones. Kris' entire theology is wrong and he wants to go on to deeper theology? His entire focus, as shown here again, is to solve the problems of this world. Kris, there is only one solution to all of the problems you see in this world - Jesus Christ. There is only one mechanism by which people can come to Christ for salvation - the Gospel. That is His way of thinking and you cannot mature into it if you are constantly gazing at this world. Mercifully, Kris concludes:

"Embrace the tension. We must understand that creativity, innovation, and invention is in God's nature. This means creative thinking and art of solution making is in our DNA. Yet, standing on the precipice of ideation comes a great tension. This pressure causes some to retreat and others to fall, but I want you to know that you were made uniquely to look fear in the face and tell it to stand down. Don't forget, the Spirit of the Living God lives in you. You were designed to carry the creativity of God's thoughts and ways. You are a supernatural solutionary!" - Kris Vallotton

Wow! I am so special! I had no idea! All this time I thought I was a miserable wretch saved by the awesome grace and mercy of God. All this time I thought I had to die to self and carry my cross daily as I worked out my salvation with fear and trembling. Yes, I think I remember reading that somewhere. I am a supernatural solutionary? I thought God had all of the answers and was a slave to Christ. Are you getting the point? The NAR dominionist is singularly focused on this world because they idolize this world. As Kris brilliantly displays here he is not one bit interested in God. Rather, he wishes to use God. To leverage Him to help him be more powerful in this world. To Kris Vallotton - the world is his portion and he is constantly looking for a bigger piece of the pie. For those of us who have a "religious spirit" that insists on God's word, only the Lord can be our portion. Therefore, we will hope only in Him.
