Understanding False Calls for False Unity

By Anthony Wade

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. - Ephesians 4:11-14 (ESV)

As we enter deeper and deeper into the end times we see the apostate church, built on its purpose driven mega church foundation and expanded by the all encompassing NAR theologies slowly taking over mainstream churchianity. I do not say Christianity because the bride of Christ always remains loyal to the bridegroom. The true bride however is continually marginalized by the growing apostate church that increasingly demands the spotlight without any of the biblical commitment. One result of this phenomenon is the growth of discernment ministries within the remnant that remain committed to exposing the false church system that is devouring millions of people. As one would expect, the seeker friendly industrial complex fights back to protect the racket they have set up. From the untold riches of a Hillsong or Bethel to the individual huckster making a living by falsely prophesying or healing. They exist to prop each other up and lend credibility to one another. One of the popular defenses employed is to have people in the industry write about unity and how Christians should never be attacking one another. This clumsy attempt to sound reasonable is just a smoke screen however to avoid answering for their false theology. One such attempt is linked above. Let us reason once more together.

"Recently I have witnessed a growing trend of Christians who are attacking and criticizing other Christians. Their verbal attacks are cannibalistic. I'm sure these kinds of things happened long before social media ever existed, but now it seems to be getting worse. A well-known ministry said one thing that is shared and reshared around pages where their followers start petty squabbles. The next week, it will be another victim. It becomes hot gossip, and people from all walks of life are weighing in on the latest story. Sadly it's like playing telephone, these things get blown way out of proportion. The ministries get attacked. The unbelievers are reminded as to why they don't want to go into churches, and the Christians participating think they have become some kind of church vigilante." - Anna Aquino

What absolute nonsense. One of the more transparent attacks they use is the notion that the unsaved do not want to go to church because they see people correcting what is wrong. That is garbage. There have been unending polls of the "unchurched" and their number one compliant is not the correction of what is wrong but the refusal to do so. This is what is known as hypocrisy and it is the number one reason why people do not go to church. They see the NAR influenced church worship one political party and extend an accusatory finger at anyone outside that cabal as the reason for not only societal ills but all future judgment as well. While the unsaved do not understand the things of God they understand the flesh and its hypocrisy all to well. Discernment and demanding the truth is not hot gossip as Aquino tries to marginalize it here. A perfect example was all of the reporting on the problems with Jerry Falwell Jr. who ran Liberty University and was a key political figure within the apostate church. After years of denial and bogus lawsuits he has now admitted he has engaged in a sexual relationship with a Miami pool boy and his wife for years. The truth matters.

"The news media is even beginning to pick up these stories. This is ridiculous. I have come to expect this kind of behavior from the unbeliever but from the churched? Really? Medically, when one body part attacks another body part the whole body becomes out of order and can't function. This disunity, the attacks and the brutality of the situation are causing the church to become fragmented." - Anna Aquino

Yes Anna, really. The so called "churched" are a by product of the purpose driven heresies and the majority are unsaved to begin with but the larger problem here is this notion that Christians should just check their collective brains at the door. Unity with heretics is not called for anywhere in the bible. The key verses speak to true unity. It is a unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God. That means it is a unity with His word. The purpose of which ironically is to no longer be fooled by people like you. The problem is that you are not part of the body of Christ. You are a virus or a parasite trying to make a living off of it. Peddling the word of God for profit. Discernment is the immune system, fighting you off.

'I have a few things I think we all need to keep in mind: Are the words that flow from your mouth, or out of your keyboard going to cause unity within the body of Christ or division? Think about what you say before you say it. Think about what you post before you post it. God makes a lot of statements in the Word about unity. Unity commands a blessing from God. Psalm 133 Does your life need God's blessing on it? People who are constantly causing strife and division do not please God. In fact, in Romans 16:1,7 God clearly tells people to avoid those causing strife. As Thumper once said in Bambi, "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all."' - Anna Aquino

Despite your Bambi theology, your understanding of Romans 16:17 is ironically poor. You see it does not merely say to avoid those who cause strife but rather to avoid hose who cause strife and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine we have been taught. You see, Romans 16:17 is a rebuke of false teachers Anna. It is a rebuke of you. So the words that come out of my keyboard are designed to cause unity within the sphere of true believers in Jesus Christ. Of all of the verses about unity, none of them says to unify with what is false. Of what fellowship can light have with darkness? None.

"Matthew 7:5 Is very clear on the point that we need to remove the log out of our own eyes so that we can remove the speck from our brother's. It's easy to point the finger at someone else and what you feel they have done wrong, but are you looking that closely in the mirror at the things you need to work on? There is a popular phrase that when you point one finger at someone there are three fingers pointing back at you. Jesus did not come to this earth to be brutally murdered so a select few could sit on their high and lofty judgmental seats and point fingers at everyone around them. Jesus was moved with compassion for His people because He loved them. Signs, wonders and miracles flow when people are moved with compassion. Judgmental attitudes dry up the spiritual atmosphere in a person's life." - Anna Aquino

No, no, no. If you are going to use a scripture pay attention to what it says. It does not say to "work on things." The point Jesus is making here again is about hypocrisy. So if I am lecturing my brother about cheating on his wife, while I am cheating on my wife, I need to go and fix my problem before I can pretend to have the moral authority to correct my brother. I sit in no lofty judgment seat Anna. I am but a sinner saved by grace. My concern is not the delicate sensibilities of the wolves but the safety of the sheep they seek to devour. Jesus was moved by this same compassion and routinely rebuked the false teachers of His day. Calling them a brood of vipers and whitewashed tombs. Read His pronouncement of woes over them in Matthew 23 and realize what our true responsibility is when dealing with those seeking to kill the Lord's sheep.

"Did you know that in order to go fishing for different kinds of fish, sometimes you need different kinds of bait? It's okay if you don't agree with everything one church teaches. As long as the foundation is biblical and not skewed, you must stop looking at someone else's flair as though there is something wrong with it. Different isn't wrong. Someone else is going to need that in their life. Different bait will catch different fish. You are on the same team. Stop fighting, people. If God had wanted us all to be like everyone else, he would have made us all carbon copy robots. He didn't. The Bible refers to the church as a body. Some church groups may focus more on the heart of an issue. Some may focus on the brain. However, they need each other to function." - Anna Aquino

It's ok to not agree with everything a church teaches? Seriously? Different from the bible is wrong! You cannot lay a solid foundation and then build rotten on top of it. We are not talking about flair. We are talking about core doctrine being wrong. I am not asking anyone to be like me, heaven forbid! I am expecting however that if you say you're a Christian that you better line up with the bible. We may be the body but Christ is the head. I am speaking about focusing on Christ and His word. Anything else must be expelled.

"The Bible gives us fantastic wisdom on dealing with people you disagree with. This can be found in Matthew 18 15-17. If you have a problem with someone in the church, you are to go to them on your own so the two of you can talk it out. If that doesn't work, you are to bring a couple of witnesses, and if that still doesn't work, you bring them before the church, but you get the point. How many people practice this today? Instead, they get on social media and blast the individual. If you have a problem with them, go to them. Perhaps you only have half the story. However, people don't want to listen to this. They want to hide behind their posts and stir the drama. Do not speak until you know both sides of a story." - Anna Aquino

Now I do not expect someone taught as poorly as Anna Aquino to get many scriptures correctly but the way she keeps missing the point is staggering. Matthew 18 deals with a brother or sister who has sinned against you personally. It is not the remedy for dealing with wolves within the church. The bible says we are to mark false teachers and avoid them. It says we are take no part in evil but expose it. It says that we need to be prepared to not only preach the correct Gospel but rebuke those that do not. Joel Osteen does not need me to go to him and tell him he is a heretic. He has been told this by everyone and he dismisses correction out of hand. Just a note, I do agree that even discernment ministries needs to wait for the entire story and not jump the gun. For example years ago Brian Houston said in a sermon that Islam and Christianity serve the same God. He said and I heard it. Nonetheless, it seemed quite out of the realm of his teaching so I did not write about it. I gave him a week and sure enough he said he misspoke. He remains one the greatest heretics on the planet but saying he preaching Chrislam is simply wrong. When Victoria Osteen declared we do not worship God for Him but for ourselves I gave her a week. She came back and doubled down on what she said with Joel smiling and nodding approvingly. That was when it was ok to take pen to paper to warn and educate the body of Christ.

'"A soft answer turns away wrath" (Prov. 15:1a). You don't have to pick a fight with everyone you disagree with. You have the choice to stop the gossip. You have the choice to comment or not. There have been times I have responded to issues and there have been times I have chosen to let it go. Be wise with your words. In all the drama we see these days, we must remember that God says, "'Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,' says the Lord" (Rom. 12:19b). It is not our job as believers to sit in our padded pews and point out all the faults of others. We need to honor men and women of God who are doing God's work. Let God deal with those people if they are off. If you haven't spent time praying about a situation, you shouldn't spend time posting about it. You need to run so fast towards what God has for you that it doesn't matter what others are doing around you. You don't have time to deeply question their motive.' - Anna Aquino

Wrong again Anna. It most certainly is our job to discern. It is our job to test everything and hold onto the good. Aquino gets another thing wrong that so many in her position of false teaching do. This is not personal to the false teacher. It is not picking a fight. It is not even meant to be corrective because the bible says their destruction is set already. It is for the benefit of the sheep following them and future victims they may encounter. It is meant as light to counter their darkness. The false narrative Aquino sets up here is not new. That everyone in church is doing God's work and I wish that were true. The bible says that either people are gathering others to Christ or scattering them away. Bill Johnson scatters people away from Christ. So does Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen and even Anna Aquino. This is not about motive - it is about doctrine. As my pastor says, you can be sincere and sincerely wrong. Mercifully, Aquino concludes:

"Most people criticize what they can't control or what, deep down, makes them jealous. Your goal needs to be to do what God has put you on this earth to do. Stop looking to your right or to your left to see what everyone else is doing. You run your race and keep your eyes on Him. We will all have to stand before God one day and give an account for how we lived our lives. So instead of nitpicking at others, and cannibalizing the ones in the pews and in the ministry next to you, we need to just keep running our own races. Let's start working as a team." - Anna Aquino

Here is the usual accusation of jealousy and it is just as bonkers as always. Why would I be jealous of someone who is standing diametrically opposed to God and will feel the full weight of His fury for what is done to His sheep? You are right Anna we will all stand before Him and give account. That thought should scare you but it won't. When you have convinced yourself that your darkness is light, how deep is that darkness? To be perfectly clear; you are not on my team. This is not nitpicking. This is about the eternal destination of the souls of men and your fifteen minutes are up. Beloved, mark Ms. Aquino, avoid, and proceed accordingly.
