I'm Tired (You and Eternity)

This world is in decay

And we're strapped into our seats

Smiling at the death of another day

Recreating Hell along the way

To somehow make it all ok

To satiate our minds

To justify what we know is wrong

I'm all outta love

All outta song

I'm just tired

Tired of the lies and tired of the pain

Tired of the games we play again and again

Tired of this thorn in my flesh

When American Idol becomes the American way

I'm too tired to wake to another day

Yes, I'm just tired

Tired of this jaded perspective of man's failed view

Tired of war for peace and the Jesus of the few

Tired of a divided nation divisive to our soul

Too tired to awaken from the sweltering cold

I'm all outta love

And I know that should feel wrong

I'm all outta caring for a careless world

I'm all outta song

The weight of the world has broken my spirit

Torn my soul in two

No one cares why should I

Then there's You

Turn your cheek, love your enemy

Must seem like a failed recipe

When evil rules the hearts of man

It must surely seem like we are done

There's no light in this darkness

Except for the sun, except for the Son

Tomorrow He still rises in the east

And settles the souls of man in the west

It matters not how I feel

It matters not what I see

It only matters in whom I have believed

So today I may be tired

From the burdens of a world that has moved on

From the endless glare of what we refuse to see

I may be outta love, outta song

But I still have You, and eternity

You and eternity
