Then You
By Anthony Wade
Then You
::::::::
Then You
The waves of loneliness
Crashed upon my beach for too long
The valley always seemed deep and vast
Going through, only going through
Choosing wrong and blaming God
Ironic stupidity
Man's propensity for perpetual misery
Self imposed, self imposed
Then you
Prideful self, standing tall
Self made, legend in my own mind
The way is always harder
The path is always longer
When we don't start on our knees
In a battle of wills, it is better to lose this one
Submission never easy but the path to righteousness
His of course, we have none
But the trail is still long and the soul is still lonely
Then you
As the last prophet said long ago
I must decrease so He may increase
I can do nothing under my own strength
But what is impossible with man
God makes possible
We go through life in fear
Fear of speaking
Fear of dying
Fear of living
Fear of being
Fear of the unknown
Fear of being together
Fear of being apart
Fear of being alone
Then you
Fear of failure
Fear of success
Fear of being weak
Fear of how strong we truly are
Fear of potential
Fear of changing the world around us
Fear of the world changing around us
Fear of taking action
Fear of the impotence of inaction
Fear of walking through this world
Fear of walking alone
Then you
But God did not give us a Spirit of fear
He gave us a Spirit of love
But we fail to show His love enough
He gave us a Spirit of power
But we walk in shackles
He gave us a Spirit of a sound mind
But we allow corruption to defile
Break the shackles
Show His love
Walk in His mind and be not alone again
Then God
And He sent me you
Then you
And I will yet praise Him for you every day
And share the beach He has prepared for us
To calm the waves of this life
To speak to the storm with the faith the disciples could not muster that day
To leave pride and fear behind
And move forward to grasp
What He has grasped me for
To take hold
Of what He has taken hold of me for
Then God, then you, then me
Hallelujah!
