Wow - Perry Noble Rewrites the Ten Commandments; Seriously

By Anthony Wade

Mega-church pastor decides that God did not give us Ten Commandments at all. No...they were just "promises." Let the blasphemy begin!

::::::::

"Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it. - Deuteronomy 12: 32 (ESV)

I guess I should not be surprised. So many false teachers today dispel the notion that the Ten Commandments have any place in the life of a believer I should have known that someone would simply rewrite them one day. When you have no fear of the Lord, why not? When you think that the little satanic voice in your head is actually God, why not? Leading tens of thousands of people to hell? Who cares! Forgive my hyperbole but click on the link above if you dare and use extreme caution. This will take you to the Christmas Eve service of New Spring Church, pastored by Perry Noble. New Spring is a mega church meeting in many different locations and boasting weekly attendance staggeringly over 10,000. This is the new norm in American Christianity. Huge churches led by biblically illiterate men who lead tens of thousands of people right to hell. Jesus warned the Pharisees once that there was no point in crossing the world to make a convert if you only make him twice the son of hell that you already are. Besides dropping the "N" word in his sermon (at the 29 minute mark of the video); Noble then embarks on a journey to rewrite the Ten Commandments. His premise is false. His motivations are false. His logic is false. His rewriting is false. Merry Christmas from New Spring, proving once again that narrow is the way to eternal life and few are those who find it.

The false premise Noble uses is almost laughable if it were not so sad. It speaks to the dumbing down of the pastoral office in these last days. The great revelation that Perry Noble received that prompted this absurd sermon was that there was no word in Hebrew for "commandment" or "command." Did he discover this from exhaustive studies of ancient languages? Did he realize this from the use of professional concordances and referents? No. He knows a guy. He seems to think a lot of this guy. This guy told him that there was no Hebrew word equivalent for the words command and commandment. Perry Noble must really respect this guy too because he did not even bother to fact check him. That is a shame too because if he had simply used Google he would have discovered that his friend is dead wrong. Despite how positively giddy Perry Noble is throughout this message when he returns to his false premise, there most certainly are Hebrew words for both command and commandment. I will leave the linguistics to the experts but many have weighed in already to correct Noble. But a good false teacher never lets the truth get in the way of a pre-formed sermonette. You see Perry had a plan this Christmas Eve. He claims God gave him the plan but we know that is not true because we can trust that God knows there is a Hebrew word for command and commandment. Not to mention the way Perry Noble then butchers the Word violates our key verse. God would never violate His own Word beloved. Thus we can safely conclude one of two things. Either Perry Noble is a liar of the highest order or he simply cannot tell when Satan is using him.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. - 2Corinthians 11: 13-15 (ESV)

If you did not have the stomach to sit through the sermon allow me to summarize. Because Perry Noble has established his false premise he then goes on to "interpret" the ten promises God made. Because in his mind there is no Hebrew words for commandment, thus every theologian and pastor in history has been wrong but now Mr. Noble has to inside track of what God really meant. So he literally now rewrites every single commandment to translate them into feel good promises. By doing so he shifts the burden of responsibility from what man is supposed to do to what God is now supposed to do. I kid you not. Here are the actual NIV commandments followed by the new Perry Noble Translation (PNT):

NIV - You shall have no other gods before me.

PNT - You do not have to live in constant disappointment anymore.

NIV - You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

PNT - You can be free from rituals and religion and trust in a relationship.

NIV - You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

PNT - You can trust in a name that's above every name.

NIV - Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

PNT - You can rest.

NIV - Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

PNT - Your family does not have to fall apart.

NIV - You shall not murder.

PNT - You do not have to live in a constant state of anger because you will be motivated by love and not hate.

NIV - You shall not commit adultery.

You do not have to live a life dominated by the guilt, pain and shame associated with sexual sin.

NIV - You shall not steal.

PNT - I will provide.

NIV - You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

PNT - You do not have to pretend.

NIV - You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

PNT - I will be enough.

Beloved, I wish I was making this up. This was actually preached. To tens of thousands of people. They applauded. Satan laughed. Only in the most twisted heart can God declaring that we are not have any other gods before Him be turned into "you do not have to live in constant disappointment." Only in the deceived and blackened heart of a false teacher can God explicitly saying we should not commit adultery be mangled into "you don't have to feel guilty anymore." False testimony? Oh - stop pretending silly! Murder? - Don't drive angry now! This is beyond sickening. That a man who pretends to shepherd this many people would be this cavalier about destroying the very Word of God. Forget fear of the Lord. I doubt Perry Noble knows the Lord at this point.

Not only though is the teaching and the premise false but so is his motivation. The key word for this sermon was "yes" because Noble wants you to say yes to Jesus today. Oh beloved how much is wrong with this mindset? Is God some wallflower waiting for us to ask Him to dance? Who saves who in that scenario? Does God draw us or do we "invite Him into our heart?" He made people come up to the front of the altar and pin their name on one of his "yes boards." You have got to be kidding me. He got down on his knees and begged people to come forward and claim they have said yes to Jesus. This is not how people are saved. You do not spend 45 minutes telling people how little God expects from them and then wave a magic wand, say a three sentence "prayer" and think they have been regenerated. It simply does not work that way. In the middle of the sermon Noble gave away the truth without even realizing it, when he said this:

"I am trying my best to convince you to say yes to Jesus because of these ten promises"

Yes, Perry Noble was trying his best to convince you to say yes and in order to get you to do so, he rewrote the Ten Commandments into the ten promises. He was using all the tricks and gimmicks of human wisdom he possesses. But the foundation of the sermon is rotten and incorrect. The rewrites are blasphemous and an abomination. The motivation is simply dead wrong. There is no point in trying to trick someone into saying yes. Or guilt them into it. The saddest thing is that all Perry Noble has to really do is preach the uncompromised Gospel of Jesus Christ and He will draw whom He will draw. Perry Noble himself though, was even prophesied about in the Bible:

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. - 2Timothy 4: 3-4 (NIV)

The notion that there is no Hebrew word for Commandment or Command is a myth. Do not turn aside to it today. Nothing scratches our itching ears more than to hear that we do not have to worry about sin. That God never really commanded us to do anything. No, those were just promises. How sad that the most genuine moment for Perry Noble in this sermon may have been when he let the "N" word fly. Everything else was blasphemous nonsense.
