Who will you hate in My Name today

Who will you disparage

Who will you hold in contempt and mock

What leper will you refuse to touch

Fearing his uncleanliness

While refusing to see your own

Who will you hate in My Name today

Who is the whore that offends you so greatly

Who do you stand to accuse

With rocks in your hands

While I erase your own sin

In the sand beneath My feet

Whose debt to you hold against them

Even after I have forgiven you yours

What soil do you think you traffic in

When thorns choke the Word you proclaim

Will I find figs under your leaves when I return

Or the barrenness of scorched earth

Who will you hate in My Name today

Will you lie on my behalf

Will you slant your testimony in my favor

Your righteous ramblings and Biblical fragments

Are merely proverbs of ashes

Your defense is but clay in My hands

Do you cast aspersions upon my prodigal son

When it is you that is truly lost

Leaving for sin is certainly wrong

But staying for false piety is worse

Who will you hate in My Name today

Who do you deride that is washing my feet with her tears

And drying them with her hair

It is the sick who need a doctor

But he who thinks he is well when he is not

Has no balm to soothe what ails him

Deep is the darkness we see as light

And evil is still evil

In anybody's name

Who will you hate in My Name today

Will you cross to the other side of the street

And leave the lost bleeding in the gutter

Will you search for the one who has wandered

Or lock the pen door against them

Will you take pity on them as sheep without a Shepherd

Or call fire down from heaven to consume them

As we ponder these things we ought to ask ourselves

If I apply the same level of mercy and grace to myself

That I show towards others...

What road will I find myself on
