Darren Wilson Whining About People With Discernment, Yet Again

By Anthony Wade

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough. -- 2Corinthians 11: 4 (ESV)

Darren Wilson is at it again. For the uninformed, Wilson is a shill who films and promotes movies and media with a Christian veneer that are doctrinally absurd. His more recent work included Holy Ghost I and Holy Ghost II, Electric Boogaloo (sorry the joke always makes me smile). In these films Wilson traverses the world to sell the Bethel Church brand of experiential Christianity that hates actual doctrine and religion. Anyone who dares to point out the unbiblical or flat out deceptive portions are deemed legalists in need of a deeper spiritual experience. Because Wilson does not understand the Bible, he fails to realize that there are other spirits in this world besides the Holy Spirit and you should not be trafficking in them so lightly.

Some of the lowlights from these films include two self-entitled evangelists roaming the streets of Utah to play psychic tricks on people and passing them off as words of knowledge. Then there was the "grow the shorter leg" trick at a Korn concert, because according to Wilson, two of the popular bandmates in Korn had given their lives to Christ. In the second film, more fake healing evangelism, this time conducted after midnight in a European park. These guys never simply go to the local emergency room to show off their wares. I wonder why? It never seems to be a verifiable healing of cancer, which would bring tremendous glory to God. No, instead we are supposed to believe that God just is interested in people who happen to have one leg two inches shorter than their other leg. Well, pun completely intended but don't let Darren Wilson pull your leg beloved. He is a huckster the Bible warns us about who makes his living off of selling these fake miracles and false brand of Christianity.

Before we get into his latest attempt to deflect criticism, we need to understand why this is important. Who cares if Darren Wilson makes a living by lying about Jesus? We should as believers! First of all it should be insulting that someone is lying about our Lord and Savior but more importantly, who is he leading to follow him instead of Christ? The Bible makes it abundantly clear that we are either gathering people to Christ or scattering them away. Make no mistake about it beloved. Darren Wilson sells jesus christ but it is a false christ. It is a christ who grows out short legs but not who heals the soul for salvation. Is that possible preacher? Sure -- read the key verse today. The Church at Corinth was experiencing the same thing. Paul is lamenting here how quickly people would be willing to follow a false christ and a false gospel. The Book of Romans teaches us that only the true Gospel has the power to save men. So it is enormously important that we uphold the true Gospel even if it means pointing out what is false because we want to spare people from standing before Jesus on the last day saying Lord Lord. Darren Wilson however does not like it when people correctly point out that he is a charlatan making merchandise off the sheep of the Lord. So every now and again he uses his platform on the compromised Charisma News site to vent. Let us reason together as we review his concerns biblically. Here his latest, entitled, "The Ugly Underbelly of Christian Opinion ."

http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/behind-the-lens/65730-the-ugly-underbelly-of-christian-opinion

"There's a song by the popular band Needtobreathe, called "Cops" that is all about their frustration with Christians trying to peg them into a particular mold of "Christian artist," and they liken the feeling to that of being chased by all these cops." - Darren Wilson

Now to be honest, I had never heard of this band so I had to do some research. They are in fact a Christian rock band. It seems however they do not like to be labeled as such because they feel that is too "polarizing." So they openly talk about their faith and consider themselves a "band of Christians" but not a "Christian Band." Whatever. It is no wonder that Wilson identified so easily with them. They represent his brand of milquetoast Christianity that doesn't want to offend anyone by merely siding with Jesus Christ and is enamored with the world. What the folks in Needtobreathe and Wilson need to learn is that the Gospel is meant to divide family against itself. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven and yes, that is quite a polarizing message. Now Wilson draws the comparison in his life to being chased by these imaginary cops:

"I recently saw this morality-police mentality when I posted a clip from my new series, Adventures With God, on YouTube. The clip was from a larger episode with Brian "Head" Welch from the metal band, Korn, and it was a snippet from our discussion with him and his band mate, Fieldy, on why they remain with a band like Korn even though they have both given their lives and hearts to Jesus. Just one look at the comment section of this clip shows the scourge of 21st-century Christianity and one of the big reasons so many people are turned off by Christians these days." -- Darren Wilson

Let's clarify some things. One the hallmarks of a false teacher or prophet are greed. Wilson does share clips from his programming for free but the purpose is to entice you to buy. Season One of "Adventures with God" is only $39.99 on his website so do not think this was out of the goodness of his heart. Now, do I begrudge people trying to make a living? No, unless they are doing so at the expense of the Gospel. Therein lies the rub. The second issue here is with this continued narrative that Wilson has engaged in regarding Korn since the first Holy Ghost movie. Wilson needs people to continue to believe what he is selling about Korn because it was a huge part of his first Holy Ghost movie and now part of his new series. At the time of the movie many people questioned why these two men would stay in a death metal band if they now claimed Christ as their Savior. They would leave the band, to which Wilson declared victory. The problem is they went back. In 2016, years after their declared salvation, Korn released a new album. Were the lyrics infused with their new found faith? Let's take a look:

I feel it calling, I feel it holding me
It's taking everything I love away from me
I feel it ripping, I feel it scaring me
That sh*t has made me blind to all reality
I feel it calling, Go away, away

I wouldn't be angry, If you'd just f*cking cry
Your tears would arouse me, Refreshing my supply
The suffering is fading, I scream into the sky
Repulsion invades me, I say goodbye

Digging deep inside of me, Getting past this agony
I can't seem to get away, Another day rotting in vain!

As it all falls down, Do I walk away?
Or do l stand my ground, And accept my fate?
And there's the faceless cries, That twist my every dream
And almost every night, I hear the demon sing

This ain't a love song, I would never give you one
No more secrets, no more lies, No more feelings or surprise
No more whispered words or lullabies
Go f*ck your lies
Everything everything falls apart

These are lyric snippets from just four of the songs on the album. It sure seems to sound like Korn has not changed much. My fear is they followed the lead of Wilson right to that false christ that hates religion and is all about the experience. Sorry Darren but the problem is not Korn -- it is you. It is you that are pushing them onto people and lofting them up as having given their lives over to Christ while singing songs that clearly demonstrate no such thing. You will answer for them too Darren, oh yes you will. We have to make sure we are not so busy "experiencing god" that we never actually meet Him. The largest problem however within this quote from Wilson is the absurd line that people are turned off by Christians who dare to point out when something is contrary to scripture. The scourge of 21st century Christianity is the same scourge that has existed in every century -- false teaching. You see, the Bible teaches us that none seek after the Lord. All have turned away. The Gospel is what turns people off to Christ because He is God and we are not. The Christianity Wilson promotes says that God and the Gospel is all about love. No beloved. Not just love but love while we were still sinners. Jesus first words in His ministry were not, "I love you! The kingdom of heaven is near!" No -- it was repent! That brings us to the other point people like Wilson keep missing. Speaking the truth is love. I do not know Brian Welch or Fieldy. My concern is for their eternal salvation because they have associated with someone who does not present the real Gospel. My sincere hope is they meet the real Holy Ghost who will convict them of their sin. Only then will everything stop "falling apart" and they will stop "hearing that demon sing" to them. Wilson continues:

"While dissenting opinions are important because they often open our eyes to viewpoints that we maybe never considered, the spirit in which they are given is just as important. Comments that are arrogantly dismissive, snarky, nasty or just plain rude reveal far more about the person writing them than they help whatever cause that person is trying to champion. Often these comment threads turn into backyard theology brawls and completely ignore Paul's reminder not to judge or despise our brother, and that we are ultimately only responsible and answerable to God for ourselves (Rom 14:10-12)." -- Darren Wilson

This is what happens when you do not understand the Bible and wield it because you found a verse fragment you think supports your unbiblical point. First let me knock down the strawman argument Wilson always erects. No one should be mean spirited with the truth. A little snarkiness is ok when dealing with such blatant false teachers like Wilson. Elijah suggested that Baal was using the bathroom and thus too busy to answer his prophets. Jesus Himself referred to the Pharisees as whitewashed tombs. In general however, we should be able to speak truth in love. That is not what Wilson is really upset about. He is using that cover to try and stop all criticism against his heretical teachings and silly movies. What Wilson conveniently leaves out of his Scripture reference is the context, which is found in the first nine verses of that chapter. The apostle Paul is teaching about areas that are not consequential to salvation. The example given is eating meat offered to idols. He draws comparisons between weak and strong believers and how they should not begrudge one another. To which I say amen and that has nothing to do with proclaiming two men as saved who make their living cursing about how horrible life is and that they are just rotting in vain. Or claiming miraculous powers of healing when charlatan Todd White just used sleight of hand to make it appear as if a leg was growing out. Because people then follow you Darren and you lead them right to your christ who cannot save them. But you tell them they are saved and one day they will stand before Jesus Christ and He will say away from me for I never knew you. Wilson also avoids the fact that the Bible is very clear that leaders within the church, as Wilson fancies himself, will be held responsible for what happens to those that follow him. Yes on matters of peripheral doctrine we are answerable for ourselves but those who labor in teaching and preaching are held to a different standard of judgment. Wilson operates in a teaching capacity through his movies. He will answer one day for who he led away from Christ through his movies.

"But I'm not as interested in dealing with the symptom (people being horrible on social media) as I am with the root, which is ultimately many Christians' feeling that policing other people is not only their right, but their God-given duty. When Paul tells the Corinthians that it is not our place to judge those outside the church, but rather those within (1 Cor. 5:12), I'm not sure he had Facebook or YouTube in mind. When these words were written, there was a natural understanding that any "judgment" of fellow believers was going to happen in the context of relationship. What has happened today is instead a kind of free-for-all of opinions shouted at the top of our lungs that is completely outside of relationship." -- Darren Wilson

Bzzzt. Thanks for playing Darren. Let us start with the fact that God wrote this verse as He did all verses. He also sees all time, including the advent of Facebook and YouTube. The actual context of these verses stems from a believer in the Corinthian Church who was sleeping with his father's wife. While that issue was bad enough the church allowed it and celebrated it. That is why Paul is reminding the CHURCH to police the CHURCH. That is the relationship Darren. So when the church sees that someone as false as you has infiltrated the sheepfold we reach for the rod. It is driven first by our relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior and secondly with each other as members of the body. The notion that I need to know you personally and carnally is absurd. My concern is for members of my family that you will lead astray from Jesus Christ.

"Social media has created a culture of people who believe their opinion is just as important as any other opinion. Unfortunately, this simply isn't true. If your opinion is coming outside of relationship, then while it may be loud, it is not important. If a perfect stranger tells me I'm doing something wrong based on something they see in one of my movies, I'm probably not going to pay any attention to them. If someone in my inner circle, who sees me every day and know the ins and outs of my journey tells me the same thing, well I'm probably going to sit up and take notice. Opinions outside of relationship are often just noise pollution. Opinions inside of relationship are not only helpful, they are biblical." -- Darren Wilson

My opinion does not matter Darren. God's opinion as expressed in Scripture most certainly does however. You on the other hand have incorrectly used two verse snippets out of context and now you are going to declare what is and is not biblical? It does not work that way Darren. What you have done however is reveal here why Jesus warns that when you have convinced yourself that your darkness is light how deep that darkness is. You have all but admitted here that the only people you will listen to are people who travel with you on your journey of heresy. Only people who are willing to drink the Kool Aid with you. Anyone else is noise pollution. What are the chances that anyone is going to correct you Darren? Zero because they believe what you believe. Sure Paul called plenty of people out by name but not everyone. Even this person he refers to in Corinth he does not apparently know. He is not by your definition "in relationship" with them. Yet he calls them out and corrects them because everyone in the church is his family. Everyone in the church you are in relationship with. Which is also why he said we are to judge in the church Darren. You see how the Bible works together? We are our brother's keeper. Mercifully, Wilson concludes:

We have to remember that everyone, including the morality police, is on a journey in this life. We are all growing, learning, making mistakes and trying our best here. Instead of shouting into the void, why not embrace the community God has already given you and allow iron to sharpen iron in the context of relationship? But of course, pointing out the flaws in others while ignoring our own flaws has been around for 2,000 years, and I think it makes Jesus just as upset today as it did back then. Today we call people who do this "trolls." But maybe we should start calling them the same thing Jesus did: hypocrites." -- Darren Wilson

There is a lot to unpack here as Wilson throws it all against the wall in the hopes that some of it might stick. Going in order let's address this "journey" theology that Wilson constantly promotes. It is quite popular within the sloppy agape teachings he finds himself in. It is used to excuse "mistakes"; which God actually calls sins. If as a preacher or teacher you are focused only on the "journey" then you have no fear of the destination and therein lies the problem. Secondly, I have no issue with growing and learning as we all should be until the day we die. "Mistakes" is a nice catch-all that is often used as a euphemism for sin and in this case to excuse away false teaching. Thirdly, I am not shouting into the void Darren. I am beating you away from the sheep of the Lord with the rod Psalm 23 speaks of. I know many will not listen because they like experiential Christianity where our wickedly deceitful hearts decide what God wants but some will come out from the darkness and my Bible tells me heaven rejoices when one does.

Fourthly, my community is the church. Jesus teaches us who are our mother and brother except they that do the will of our Father. Fifth, and this is very important, I have made no personal aspersions towards you. I have not pointed out flaws in you. I did not say your glasses are crooked and someone dresses you funny. I am pointing out the flaws in your teaching, including your misuse of God's Word and your obviously deceptive practices. To try and claim that Jesus would be upset at people who stand up for the truth of His Word shows how utterly disconnected from Him your teaching is. The people Jesus referred to as hypocrites were not those in possession of correct doctrine but rather those that were preaching and teaching false doctrine. People today like you Darren. You think you are making Jesus famous by filming a leg growing parlor trick that has been debunked on Facebook numerous times. Or by playing word association games with unbelievers that psychics made famous. Or by stalking emotionally compromised people in foreign parks after midnight to do pretend healings when there are hospitals everywhere if you were really serious. Then you take to the Internet and whine when someone as the temerity to call you out for the charlatan you are. Go ahead and call me a troll like you did on Charisma News once. I wear it like a badge of honor. If trolling your false teachings directs one person to the real Gospel and the real Jesus Christ then it is all worth it. That is not the underbelly of my opinion Darren. It is what the Bible teaches.
