The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) along with the purpose driven industrial complex has made a mockery of God in so many ways and one glaring example is how they make an absolute mockery of prophecy. This is no casual matter beloved. We must never lose sight amongst the idiocies we see in the Charismaniacal landscape that prophecy is serious business. It is claiming to have heard directly from God. It is speaking on behalf of the creator of the entire universe. To do so presumptively is so mind boggling arrogant and foolish I scarcely can comprehend it. It was so serious to God, that the original rules were made very clear -- prophesy falsely just one time and you would be put to death. Why so harsh? Because you are claiming to speak on behalf of the creator of the entire universe! This is what happens when we treat what should be holy as profane. God struck Uzzah dead because he touched the ark of the covenant when he should not have even been assisting with the transport! He struck Ananias and Sapphira dead for pretending to have given all the proceeds from the sale of a property they owned! The issue again was taking the holy lightly. You did not carry the ark if you were not part of the Kohathite family of the Levite tribe. You did not lie to the apostles to make yourself look better. How much more serious is actually saying thus sayeth the Lord when He never said it! The above link is to the latest article from James Goll, a master false prophet, who loves teaching others to be just as false as he is. Let us reason again together.

"Prophecy is for everyone. It is difficult to convey this concept enough in our world of superstars--both in the church and outside it. But Scripture is clear--every believer is prophetic, and every believer can prophesy (see Num. 11:29 and Acts 2:16-18). So whether you have prophesied for years or are just getting started, here are 10 practical guidelines that will help you grow in prophecy and keep your gift solidly grounded." -- James Goll

Let's deal with the foundational falsehood from all false prophets today. Hear me very clearly -- prophecy is NOT for everyone. That assertion is not only ridiculous but it is biblically ignorant. The key verses today spell that out very plainly. Prophecy is a gift of the Holy Spirit listed in 1Corinthians. The key verses state that these gifts are empowered by the spirit and it is ONLY the spirit that apportions the gifts unto the body of Christ. Later in the same chapter, God makes it even clearer:

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. -- 1Corinthians 12:27-31 (ESV)

Within the Greek these are answered questions and the answer to all of them is a rhetorical "no." You do not need a degree in ancient Greek however to see that the text itself gives the truth away when it says to desire the higher gifts. Why would anyone have to desire them if everyone had access to all of them? James Goll thinks nothing of the sacredness of scripture so when he says scripture is clear, you know he about to mangle it to muddy the waters. Let us quickly look at the two "proof texts" he offers, in proper context:

Now two men remained in the camp, one named Eldad, and the other named Medad, and the Spirit rested on them. They were among those registered, but they had not gone out to the tent, and so they prophesied in the camp. And a young man ran and told Moses, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." And Joshua the son of Nun, the assistant of Moses from his youth, said, "My lord Moses, stop them." But Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord's people were prophets, that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!" And Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp. -- Numbers 11:26-30 (ESV)

But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: "'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; - Acts 2:16-17

The story from Numbers shows TWO people prophesying, not everyone. Moses even exclaims -- oh that all would prophesy! That specifically means that all do not! This is what happens when you scour the bible to prop up your false teachings. The truth always comes out. The verses from Acts are from Pentecost and is Peter stating that the Joel prophecy was coming true with the delivery of the Holy Spirit. Yet even within that prophecy it does not say all will prophesy! Your sons and daughters does not mean everyone. The other sign of false teaching is when one avoids clear directional scriptures regarding the subject at hand for narratives that can be twisted far more easily. The key verses and that entire chapter cannot be clearer. There is no need to go to some obscure narrative in Numbers or a passage in Acts reaffirming a Joel prophecy! Now let us examine the ten ways Goll offers up to help fledgling false prophets prophelie:

"Earnestly desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially that you may prophesy (see 1 Cor. 14:1). God wants to speak to you and through you!" -- James Goll

Why would anyone claiming to hear directly from God need James Goll's help to prophesy at all? It is true that the verse he cites says to earnestly desire prophecy but that was presented as a contrast to the gift of tongues, which to this day is more eagerly pursued by the church. Paul's point was that true prophecy edifies the church. Like the devil mixing truth and error it is true that God wants to speak TO you, but not necessarily through you.

"Trust the peace of God. Beware of speaking when your spirit is uneasy or in turmoil, or when you feel forced to speak. Look for the peace of God in every word you utter (see Ps. 85:8, Phil. 4:7--9)." -- James Goll

So the leaning upon our own feelings begins. This is the genesis of experiential Christianity today. To reflect to our feelings and blame the thoughts that pop into our heads upon God. Realize that is all James Goll can teach -- utter carnality. There is a reason why the bible describes the human heart as the most wickedly deceitful thing ever created! I cannot tell you how many times I have heard churchgoers explain bizarre, poor or even unbiblical decisions based upon some level of "peace" they believe God gave them over the matter. C'mon; let's be honest about this. I had friends who once moved out of state and they "submitted the matter into prayer" where they sought "God's peace" over the decision. Since they clearly wanted to move, they of course received that "peace." In their new surroundings, they quickly fell out of church and away from the faith. Trust the word of God beloved.

"Obey the urging of the Spirit. Remember, the prophetic spirit is under your control. It will not impel you to speak against your better judgment. You can turn it off or turn it on by an act of your will." -- James Goll

Uhm, no. If we can turn off hearing from God as act of our sheer will then we have become God. Now, we can always pull a Jonah and run off to Tarshish instead of giving the word as instructed but again all of these rational sounding morsels ignore why someone who hears directly from God would need urging to obey the spirit!

"Don't rely on physical sensations. When you begin to move in prophecy, the Lord may give you physical sensations such as knots in the stomach, a fluttering heartbeat, intense heat, a feeling of euphoria, impressions, visions and so on. The Holy Spirit does this to prepare you to receive or deliver His word. However, it is also true that as time goes on, the Lord often withholds these promptings so you can grow in the ability to hear Him apart from physical sensations." -- James Goll

So in order to be prepared to deliver a word from the Lord I must feel nauseous first? I also am confused why we have trouble hearing the creator of the universe? Is His voice low? Is there usually traffic drowning Him out in the background? Does He need a megaphone? The truth of what James Goll is selling here is Gnosticism disguised as super-spirituality. That we have to seek out the voice of the Lord. Running a fever? That might be God! Queasy? Deja-vu? Euphoria? That could be God! Or it could be that day old pizza you ate an hour ago!

"Speak clearly and naturally. You don't have to speak in King James English to get your point across. Nor do you always have to say, "Thus saith the Lord." If your word is truly from God, the Spirit will confirm it in the hearts of the listeners (see John 10:4-5, 16). Also, be sure to speak loudly and clearly enough to be heard by everyone." -- James Goll

Funny enough point. I have seen wannabe prophets try so hard to sound so pious that they end up making God sound as if he was speaking in archaic riddles. Other false prophets promise the world -- such as releasing the angels of abundant harvest, who of course do not actually exist. God's message is not nebulous beloved. It usually involved some level of necessary repentance, which is rarely taught or prophesied anymore.

"Recognize that timing is everything. A prophecy that comes at the wrong time during a meeting sounds like a noisy gong or clanging symbol. It will only draw attention to you, not to Jesus. Leave the delivery of corrective and directional words to experienced and mature brothers and sisters. The simple gift of prophecy is for exhortation, edification and comfort. If you do receive a directional word, write it down and prayerfully submit it to someone in leadership for evaluation." -- James Goll

More confusion sown from the master false prophet. Yes the bible does say that prophecy exhorts, edifies and encourages but a corrective or direction word are these things! The message of John the Baptist was a message of repentance but make no mistake about it - repent is an encouraging word! It is a command of exhortation. It is the foundation for any edification! Goll is so neck deep in the purpose driven church lifestyle that he equates anything that is not carnally encouraging with being spiritually harsh. Once again however, why does someone claiming to hear directly from God need to submit what God said to another human being? Is God ambiguous? Unclear? Please.

"Let God speak to you in the way He chooses. You don't have to be struck by a lightning bolt to prophesy. A message can come in a variety of ways: literal words, senses or inklings, vision of words like teletype print in your mind, dreams and so on. More often than not, a seasoned individual receives the sense of what God wants to say. Your duty is to then express that sense clearly and appropriately (see Ps. 12:6)." -- James Goll

Wow. If you ever want to know why false prophets get it wrong so much, just look at the absurdities James Goll lists for how God "speaks to you." Realize that in the Old Testament, God SPOKE to the prophets. He did not give the gooseflesh and expect then to translate that into God-speak. Senses or inklings? Seriously? Visualization of words? Teletype print in your mind? This is how modern-day false prophets are raised and taught. To rely upon their feelings, senses, or premonitions. To use meditation and other eastern mysticism tricks to see visions. They teach you to empty your mind and listen to the first thing that pops into your head and assume God must have said it! How dangerous is that! Who speaks to your heart as well? The enemy! There is a reason why the heart is considered the most deceitful thing ever made!

"Follow the Holy Spirit's leading on what to do with a word after you've received it. Not all words are for the purpose of proclamation; many are for intercession. Some words should be "put on file," waiting for confirmation. Other words should be written down and submitted to more mature Christians with a prophetic ministry for evaluation. Some prophecies should only be spoken to an individual, others to a group. Some prophetic words should be delivered as songs." -- James Goll

Let us just consider the first statement here. Some words from God are for intercession, meaning prayer, and others for proclamation to the people. While this may be perfectly true, is God somehow unclear? Why would He give you a word meant for prayer and not tell you? If God spoke it, why do I need to vet it through an alleged "mature Christian?" Some should be delivered as songs? Yeah and some as interpretive dance no doubt.

"Don't let the fear of failure keep you from stepping out. What if you mess up? No start is perfect. Maturity only comes from taking risks and occasionally failing. Proverbs 24:16a says, "For a just man falls seven times and rises up again." Learn from your mistakes, ask the Lord to forgive and cleanse you and get back up and humbly receive His grace (see 1 Pet. 5:5). As light and darkness continue to increase in our world, you can be an agent of light bringing hope, encouragement and comfort to everyone around you. Together, we will become a prophetic army for the kingdom of God!" -- James Goll

There is no "failure" in prophecy -- only presumption. There are fewer things more frightening than speaking presumptuously for the Lord. if you mess up you are to be labeled a false prophet an be avoided. The bible says to not be afraid of such liars. 1Peter 5 has nothing to do with dusting yourself off after lying on behalf of God. False prophets like Goll claim a 65% success rate is the mark of a good prophet! That means 35% of the time they have potentially shipwrecked the faith of those who have heard them and wrongly assumed God was speaking to them! There are always victims of false teaching and prophecy! The bodies left in the wake of someone as false as James Goll is real and tragic. He does not seem to care as continues to push these false teachings on others. Do not fall for it beloved. God does not stutter. He is not ambiguous. He will not be mocked.
