Your Playing Small Doesn't Serve The World
Capacity...
Untold measures lie ahead in the dwindling darkness
Like potential possibilities of meaning and somethingness
Like different versions of the same man, meant to be, yet to be
Driven by the fear of contentment and the inadequacy of success
Capacity...
Weathered eyes cut through my soul
Aimless lives without control
Shuffle through life's endless maze
Painless deaths in a medicated haze
If they should only know
The truth of life and destination
The truth of death and all creation
But the world has moved on, forgotten time
Lost purpose, nothing more sublime
A world of mockers, the truly blind
To whom visions of hell have become but a punch line
Capacity...
Prophesy to your own dry bones, you seer of old
The world continues to fall
Cascading through the deterioration of time
Are you its witness?
Are you its impotent spectator?
Knowledge without action is worthless
Knowledge for knowledge sake is devoid of purpose and meaning
For what were you brought to this moment for?
Certainly not to stand idly by as the world passes on, passes you by
What is the capacity contained within your prophecy?
For what were you brought to this moment for?
To die with your knowledge? To die insured?
To give up your ghost amidst the fears of the ignorant?
The fears of what you were brought to this moment for.
The fear that your perceived inadequacy is but a shadow
A shadow whose visage appears frightening,
But whose existence is only there within the recesses of your mind
The shadow passes you by and is overshadowed by
Capacity, your own capacity.
The pain of this world may penetrate
It may permeate
Saturate
But in the end, your playing small doesn't serve the world
It robs eternity of souls with untold transcendence
Glory in ethereal magnificence
Beauty within the core of man, fighting against the lies of the world
Fighting and waiting
Waiting for you, and the word you will bring them
To turn the switch on, to bring the light that has lacked in their lives
Do not hide your light under the table
Inadequacy is a lie, an illusion
A fear in three dimensions, but paper thin
Like a razor in your psyche it can cut
It is designed to cut; to take away your potential, your capacity
There is nothing worse than unmet potential; the vacuous abandonment of capacity
