Thank You Jesus

The sun rises as sure as the Son has risen

The west welcomes it in the shrinking sky

People change, the world moves on

Memories in the distance

Better times

Fading fast in the distance

No one seems to remember

I'm holding on

Holding on to an ideal, a snapshot in time

Trying to grab a shadow in the sunlight

Dragging a life back to relevance

That has long since been removed

I know You are there

Inside of me, guiding me, carrying me

But I see no line Lord

No line on my horizon

Your Word feeds me, maintains me

Yet I am still living

Where things are passed

Where things are past

Just a picture in my mind

Of what was right

Before the shadow moved on

And left me grasping

For what is no longer there

Draw me back to You

All that I need

All that I have

Take Your burning coal to my unclean lips

Make me to lie down in Your green pastures

Still waters to lead me to

Rend my heart oh Lord

Cause I'm tired, dog tired, tired to my bones

Of trying to hold onto water

While time slips through my fingers

Of trying to grasp the sand

While chasing shadows and photographs
