'In addition to the tragic state of entertainment, the evangelist discussed America's increasing secularization and progressive hostility and apathy toward faith. "We have taken God out of schools, and most homes are leaving God out of the rearing of their children," Graham added. "He is the solution. The more we turn our backs on God and His Word, the more problems we have as individuals and as a nation."' - Charisma News
How powerless is your god if you think man can simply remove him from schools? What is He standing outside waiting for someone to open a side door for Him? This stale talking point is quite frankly stupid and insulting to God. Forcing people who do not share our faith to pray to a God they do not believe in, is not "Christianity." Graham continues to get the main points wrong as a dominionist. This nation has always been secular. Asking unbelievers to "turn back to God" is not only wholly inaccurate but biblically impossible. How does the bible say anyone is saved? Through the preaching of the gospel! The reason why so many do not involve God in child rearing is the fault of the apostate church, which abandoned the gospel a long time ago. The problem is people like Graham, who claim the mantle of Christianity, spend their waking hours defending the indefensible while spitting on the graves of dead children. The church has abdicated its biblical role as a shining city on a hill. Instead the lost turn to the church and see the world. They see a church that is fully immersed with the politics of this world, while embracing gun culture and somehow renouncing violence out of the other corner of their mouths.
Graham isn't alone in believing America's separation from the Lord is deeply problematic. Veteran Navy SEAL Jimmy Graham recently delivered a one-word answer when asked by CBN's Faithwire to reveal the most potent preventative deterrent to violent mass shootings. "Jesus," he said without missing a beat. He then expounded on his belief America has strayed from its biblical foundations. "I would plead with people to return to the foundation that built this nation," he said. "There are biblical foundations that built this nation. They're proven to work, and we've chosen not to use them." Graham added, "There's nothing wrong with the plan; we've just chosen not to do it." Pray for America and our leaders as we navigate through spiritual crises and the tragic cultural results." - Charisma News
May as well close on a full-on dominionist rant that is devoid from reality. Jesus was not the foundation upon which this country was built. Not even close. Sure, it is true that if everyone in the country was truly saved that there should theoretically be no shootings but that is simply not going to happen even if the church started preaching the gospel again. The things of God are foolishness to those that are perishing. Heck, the vast majority of churchgoers today are not even saved. That is why they can so obediently follow political rhetoric instead of the gospel. It is why they can accept such carnal reasoning as the way to stop tragedies like Cobb Elementary School is more good-guy fourth graders with guns or better doors. Anything to avoid the only real discussion that would work, limiting guns. The blood of 19 children cries out from the graves in Uvalde Texas. While it is understandable that the carnal, evil world would offer them nothing but hollow talking points and distractions instead of solutions, it is so sad to see those who claim to represent the church do likewise. I just pray they realize that Franklin Graham does not speak for Christ and he hasn't for a very long time.
