"Christian" Leaders Outraged at Ban On Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

By       (Page 2 of 2 pages)   1 comment

'"And in the case of the erasure 'Jingle Bells' from this school district, this New York school board is canceling a song that doesn't overtly refer to Christianity, but which is closely associated with the secular celebration of a high Christian holiday," Burns adds. "The left is actually going one step further with this Stalinistic cancel culture. Clearly the next step for cancel culture will be the complete removal of even vague references to Christianity. "The left and godless Democrats obviously want to erase Christmas. Any objection they make in protest of that fact is clearly a lie. They are canceling us while telling us we are crazy. Quite frankly, it's abusive behavior. Everyone associates the song 'Jingle Bells' with Christmas, which everyone knows is really about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So, of course the liberal left wants to cancel anything to do with Christianity in public schools and in society more broadly."' - Charisma News

Let's be clear. Jingle Bells does not refer to Christianity at all. Overly, covertly, in any shape, form or manner. So, the assumption that because they want to stop singing this song that the next step must be the removal of vague references to Christianity is asinine. Notice the division that the political forces demand the religious leaders sow. If you merely disagree with their politics then you are deemed "godless" and "Stalinistic." How despicable. The Stalin regime was responsible for 20 million deaths and now that is equal to not wanting to sing Jingle Bells. Then again why limit ourselves to Jingle Bells? The argument being made here by Burns is that even though Jingle Bells does not mention Christianity everyone knows it is a Christmas song so ipso facto Jingle Bells suddenly is considered part of the holy canon. Please follow that logic because according to it, any song sung around Christmastime is reflexively about Christ Himself. So Burns, King, and Brown would theoretically be just as upset if a different school banned the singing of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer because they were taking a stand against elder abuse. Ridiculous? That's the entire point! Grandma got run over is clearly associated with Christmas, which everyone knows is associated with the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That is the tortured logic behind their assertion that this little school in Rochester actually represents an evil conspiracy against our faith! Can't have any inclusion. Equity? That's for godless suckers. Diversity? Not on my watch!

'Dr. Alveda King, niece of late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., says the school's action only promotes divisiveness in our culture, not unity. "We will never solve the problem of racism until we do what my Uncle Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said to do," Alveda King says: "'We must learn to live together as brothers [and sisters, added by Alveda King], or perish together as fools.' "Acts 17:26 teaches us that we are one blood, one human race," she says. "We are not divided into separate races by skin color; that is ethnicity, not race. Looking for divisive markers according to skin color breeds racism. 'Jingle Bells' is a song written years ago. It is futile to continue to divide the human race by markers that delight some and offend others. There is one critical race, the one-blood human race."' - Charisma News

Yeah. No. Acts 17:26 teaches the opposite actually. Read the key verses that include the missing context. For starters, God does not need our help. Read it in the key verses! He certainly does not need our defending Him by demanding Jingle Bells is sung. The verses go on to say that from one man, God made the great diversity we see today, including the boundaries that Alveda King tries to dismiss here. All can seek God and will find Him if so because He is not far from them. By the way, Alveda is not necessarily wrong in a vacuum. If we were just starting a country we should strive of equity and inclusion amidst our diversity. The problem is that is not what we did as a country. It comes off a disingenuous and tone deaf to suggest after 200 + years of slavery, Jim Crow, and racism that now we should all just consider ourselves one blood human race. Oh, and sing Jingle Bells.

"Dr. Michael Brown, author, apologist and host of The Line of Fire, offered a response as well.

"Talk about a ridiculous, woke overreaction," Brown says. "This is yet another example of an extreme, PC culture destroying some of the simplest joys of life and making everything into a race issue. Sing the song and enjoy the season!" Brown has authored a new book titled, The Silencing of the Lambs, due out in March, from Charisma House. The book chronicles the ominous rise of cancel culture and what we can do to overcome it." - Charisma News

There is no cancel culture. This is a political term, developed by political operatives in a political think tank. It is used to victimize people and make them feel as if someone was taking something from them. In this case, they are taking Jingle Bells but the powers that be realized no one would really care about a silly Christmas song. So, they marched out their "Christian leader" troops to make the argument that what they really want to cancel is your faith and your religion. So suddenly if you do not wish to sing Jingle Bells you are akin to Joseph Stalin. You are now godless if you do not wish to sing Jingle Bells. Do not laugh beloved. I am reminded in closing of the powerful quote from German Lutheran Pastor, Martin Niemoller, outspoken critic of Adolf Hitler. First, they came for Jingle Bells and I did not speak out. When they came for Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, there was no one left to speak.
