Let him who has ears hear what Jesus Christ is saying to the church today, through His words to the Church at Sardis. Is it an easy word? No but it is a crucial one. Salvation hangs in the balance. Eternity is being weighed on the scales. Christianity is not meant to be a polite and inoffensive prospect. Matters of heaven and hell and sin and repentance often cause wounds to the pride of a willful people. The good news is that God heals all wounds, even those that are self inflicted from thinking a bit too much of ourselves. John would write years later that the Church at Sardis experienced a revival. A stark reminder that God can restore anything if we would simply take an honest look at ourselves and our heart and turn them over to Him who has the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars. Lord lead us out of Sardis today, in Jesus name.
