"Then the King will
say to those on his right, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the
Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed
me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited
me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for
me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' "Then these righteous ones will reply,
"Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you
something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?
When did we ever see you
sick or in prison and visit you?' "And the King will say, "I tell you the
truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me!' -- Matthew 25: 34-40 (NLT)
2) That we should live a
q uiet life, minding our business, concerned about
how the world views us.
Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own
business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not
Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on
others. -- 1Thessalonians 4: 11-12 (NLT)
3) The
reason why we need to be concerned about how the world views us is because that
is how the land is healed. This verse says if the church would just be the
church then the world would want what we have and THAT is how the land is
restored.
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble
themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will
hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. -- 2Chronicles 7: 14 (NLT)
4) That w e
remember we are citizens of heaven. Be wary of those who are striving only for
the preservation of what God has already said will pass away. If we would only
be as eager for the things of God as we are sometimes for the politics of man!
Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine,
and learn from those who follow our example. For I have told you often before,
and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct
shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is
their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this
life here on earth. But we are
citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly
waiting for him to return as our Savior. He
will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his
own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his
control. -- Philippians 3: 17-21 (NLT)
5) To be s alt and
light to a dying world. Not pepper and glitter (Thanks to Pastor Watson).
You
are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can
you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as
worthless. "You are the light of the world--like a city on a hilltop that cannot be
hidden. No one
lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a
stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let
your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your
heavenly Father. -- Matthew 5: 13-16 (NLT)
6) Genuine
love for one another. Not allowing temporal matters such as politics divide the
body of Christ.
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.
Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the
world that you are my disciples." -- John 13: 34-35 (NLT)
7) The Great Commission. Being about the Father's work.
Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and
on earth. Therefore,
go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new
disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am
with you always, even to the end of the age." -- Matthew 28: 18-20 (NLT)
These things are the politics
of God. Loving each other. Taking care of the least in society. Genuine
repentance in the church. Salt and light to the world that is on the outside
looking in. Having a heaven-based citizenship mindset -- valuing the eternal.
Neither party cares for the cause of Christ. Don't allow yourself to be used.
Pray in the Spirit and vote as God leads you, never losing sight that the
lesser is still evil but that God is ultimately on the throne so there is never
anything to fear.
