Because we do not want to hear the truth. We just want to feel warm and fuzzy. We not only pursue what is false but we want to wrap ourselves up in it. We want to feel comforted by it. So we embrace worldly terms that make us feel snug like "love" and turn our noses up towards Micaiah because he never says anything good. We run instead to the 400 who tickle our ears. We follow them on Twitter and repost them on Facebook. We pretend the lies we are told are profound or deep when all they are is poison. Then we buy their books or rush to see them when they are in our town. We cinch that snuggie in a little tighter. We defend them when someone dares point out their error. We attack anyone who might actually say thus sayeth the Lord. Because we only hear what we want to hear. We like the delusion we sit under. It is as comfortable as a snuggie. It fits us perfectly. It covers everything. It makes us forget all about that big heavy hammer. Until the one who forged it returns. Woe to us then beloved. Hear, all you peoples. Hear well.
