Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them! -- Isaiah 5:11 (ESV)

God always has a plan and when it comes to the Gospel and the church was His chosen vehicle to represent the Gospel to a fallen world. This would be accomplished by not compromising its preaching within the walls of the church and to take it evangelistically to the four corners of the world. Within the back rooms of the NAR however, trained up by the purpose driven church and beholden to the seeker friendly industrial complex, the Gospel got rebranded. Where Jesus urged repentance, the new apostate church would softly whisper, love. With the entire church wrongly focused on the lost, the sheep would be starved as the Gospel become more and more compromised. The NAR dominionists love this country and the sin it allows. Instead of saving individual people, they instead talk about the entire nation and how if they would just change their behavior, then God would somehow relent from His coming wrath. The result is comical if not so sobering. An impotent church entertaining goats every week, defanged without the Gospel to convict sinners. A world that continues to sin, even if they are now "churched" because that is what they are essentially being taught by a church that has stepped out of God's plan to pursue the carnality it so loves. Let us reason through the above linked article and see how the NAR misapplies warnings for the church to the world they so adore.

"In a day where false alarms, exaggerated warnings and intentional scare tactics are used by a deceptive culture, it's sometimes difficult to separate true warnings from deceptive false alarms. So, asks the American Pastors Network (APN), how can Christians differentiate between the two? Sam Rohrer, president of APN, the largest national network dedicated to equipping pastors to be a voice for truth in the public square, and host of APN's "Stand in the Gap" radio and television programming, says Old Testament woes and warnings directed toward Israel have timely significance for America today. "In the Bible," Rohrer says, "the word 'woe' or 'warning' is used nearly 100 times--98 to be exact. The Old Testament prophets used it. Christ used it many times Himself. The word occurs in the book of Revelation in final judgment. In nearly every case where a woe is given, the warning of judgment is certain, and God's punishment imminent."' -- Sam Rohrer

Dedicated to equipping pastors to be a voice for truth in the public square? That is all you need to see to realize that this is straight up NAR dominionism. Pastors today have a hard enough time being a voice of truth in the pulpit let alone the world where they are not called to do so. Standing in the gap has nothing to do with this world other than saving people out from it. Now let's get down to discernment. The Old Testament woes towards Israel have absolutely nothing to do with America. This is likened to a form of replacement theology, which I call Dominionist Replacement Theology. Regular replacement theology says that the church has replaced Israel in God's eyes. This is biblically ignorant as Israel is still the apple of God's eye and the church is grafted in. As if that was bad enough theology, the NAR comes along and believes that America has replaced Israel. That the United States was once under covenant with God and if the millions of goats would just start behaving better, then God would somehow stay the coming wrath. This is born out of an idolatry for this world, focused through this country. Behavior modification however is a poor substitute for salvation. Now, we can learn as the church from the mistakes of Israel but the woes themselves do not directly apply and most certainly not to a pagan country who was never saved to begin with. The Old Testament prophets used woes in dealing with Israel not her neighboring pagan countries. Jesus used it when dealing with the false religious leaders of His day. So I would agree that the woes would still apply today but only to the false teachers who would travel the world to make a single convert only to make him twice the son of hell that they are.

"As an example, Rohrer said, Noah warned the people for 100 years of a coming flood. The people heard, considered, rejected--then died, illustrating that God gives His people warnings that they might live. Then in Isaiah 5, God's prophet pronounced six specific warnings of imminent judgment against identified national sins. "These woes were sobering, the sins specific and God's judgment certain," Rohrer said. "The message was to Israel, but the application is for America. When God warns, it's real, and we'd better sit up and take notice."' -- Sam Rohrer

Again, Isaiah was speaking to Israel, not surrounding nations. The application might be made to the church but to apply it to America is asinine and unbiblical. The things of God are absolute foolishness to those who are perishing! Romans teaches us that only the Gospel can save someone. Not preaching woes to try and garner better behavior. Let's reason together through these six woes.

'Woe No. 1: The sin of materialism. After God blessed the nation with security, wealth, houses and productive land, the people turned their back on Him. The result? God withheld His blessings, removed His protection, allowed rebellion within and threats of attack from without. Rohrer asks: Does this sound anything like America today?" -- Sam Rohrer

No Sam, it does not. Do you know why? Because America never turned their back on God. They were never saved to begin with and were never under covenant with God. Couldn't one reasonably argue that when we committed genocide upon the Native Americans in order to steal their land that materialism was already active? Perhaps one of the worst parts of wrongly focusing on America for her sins is it prevents church leaders from examining themselves. Does the sin of materialism infect the church today? Absolutely. The prosperity gospel heresy is the easy target but the NAR dominionist focus on this world is rooted in enjoying the excess this world allows. Do you think God does not see million dollar mansions and Learjets for pastors? Do you think He does not see the abusive tithing pastors threatening His sheep on His behalf?

"Woe No. 2: The sin of hedonism. Consumed with an intoxicating addiction to alcohol, drugs, entertainment and partying, the nation willfully rejected God and the consequences of evil choices, as depicted in Isaiah 5:11." -- Sam Rohrer

Isaiah 5:11 is the key verse today and it appears Rohrer has stretched it quite a bit. That said, while many have rejected the Gospel this notion of rejecting God is not supported. They do not believe in God or have recreated Him in their own image. What about the church though? Modern NAR churches have become entertainment and indulgence. Do you think God did not see the sensual Silent Night or the naked cowboy youth pastor by Hillsong? Do you think He does not see when Tully Tchividjian claims he can come back to ministry because his extramarital affair was between two consenting adults? Can the modern church become any more hedonistic? Just look at the recent absurdity surrounding Todd Bentley, who openly admitted to sexting with his interns and sharing intimate details of his wife with them. Yet the apostate church is pretending they need to "investigate." That does not even take into consideration that he never should have been restored to ministry after marrying his adulteress and divorcing his wife.

"Woe No. 3: The horrible practice of literally promoting sin and evil. As told in Isaiah 5:18, without regard for God or moral truth, the nation dreamed of evil, sinned without remorse and even belittled God by profaning His name and His truth." -- Sam Rohrer

How can you not see the direct application to the church today? Yes the world sins because they do not believe but Isaiah was speaking to those who knew better. The church should know better. Do you think God does not see the promotion of fake supernatural schools that blaspheme the Holy Spirit by pretending they can teach the gifts He can only give? Do you think He does not see that Christian best sellers have titles like "Destined to Reign", "I Am" and "Your Best Life Now?" Do you think He does not see the church extending their finger of accusation at the lost world while protecting anyone who morally fails from the pulpit? I read recently where one church was having a "zombie walk" to celebrate Halloween! Woe to the church indeed!

'Woe No. 4: The sin of moral relativism. Even more dangerous is when a nation redefines moral truth as moral evil, as outlined in Isaiah 5:20. This is accomplished by discarding the Ten Commandments as dangerous, killing the unborn through abortion, redefining marriage between two men or two women and much more. "Have these redefinitions been made in America?" Rohrer asks. "Yes--all have!"' -- Sam Rohrer

Discarding the Ten Commandments? You mean like Joseph Prince does with his greasy grace? He is far from alone. Creflo Dollar also preaches that believers should not have the Ten Commandments even in their home. You know what is worse though? Christians feeling no conviction that sin is no longer preached at all in the church but they think they fulfill some Christian duty in pointing at the people in the world and screaming, "sinner!" NAR dominionists think nothing of trying to moderate carnal behavior in the world through legislation and electing morally bankrupt characters and pretending they are somehow biblical. I expect moral relativism from a world that think the things of God are foolishness. The church however, constantly defending a thrice married, genital grabbing, and profanity laced president is the definition of moral relativism.

"Woe No. 5: The sin of arrogance and corruption. God hates pride because it embodies the sin of satanic defiance against God, Rohrer said, pointing to Isaiah 5:21. Through pride, mankind pronounces himself to be God, which results in the rejection of God and eternal life." -- Sam Rohrer

I take no issue with the characterization of the world essentially saying they wish to be their own God. That is the truth behind the primary reasons for rejecting the Gospel. People reject the church because of hypocrisy but they reject God because they do not wish to give up the driver's seat. Once again however, Isaiah is not speaking to people outside of the family of God. Rohrer should instead gaze inward at a church that believes we are little gods. A church that has said that God cannot actually do anything on earth without our permission. Even things like mandatory divine healing are so arrogant in their theological construction. Pride within the church? Most modern Charismatic services are nothing more than a "look at me" show. Modern worship is about us instead of God. We actually think it is worship to tell God how much He loves us! Today's sermonettes are about us instead of Jesus. Every sermon is about facing our giants or our Ziklag moment. Then the people who interrupt service to shout out in gibberish to sound more spiritual. Don't get me started on flagging and interpretive dance. One of the most honest moments in recent history was when Victoria Osteen said that we do not worship for God but rather for ourselves. After scathing criticism, she simply doubled down with hubby Joel right beside her.

"Woe No. 6: The sin of corrupted leadership. The prophet warned: Woe unto the political and military leaders who through addiction become bribed and incapable of sound judgment." -- Sam Rohrer

Not sure what verses he is referencing but the same theme applies. Isaiah is speaking to those within the family of God. Let us not lose sight of Rohrer's overall premise. That Isaiah pronounce woes over Israel that apply now to America, instead of the church. By applying these woes to America, Rohrer presents a false paradigm the NAR loves to traffic in. That America has fallen out of favor with God because she has broken some previous covenant. This is absurd historically and biblically however. We expect the world to produce corrupt leaders. Where we did not expect it is within the church. We did not expect the head of the National Association of Evangelicals for example to have been engaged in a decades long relationship with a male prostitute while doing crystal meth (Ted Haggard). We did not expect mark Driscoll to rob $250,000 in tithe monies to cheat the NY Times Best Seller List for his own personal gain. Perhaps we should have expected this never-ending stream of pastors falling from grace. Power is addictive and wealth inherently bribes us as human beings to look the other way.

'"What is the result of continually ignoring God's true warnings?" Rohrer said. "Isaiah 5:24 says that God's love will be turned to anger, His blessings will turn to judgment, murder and death of the people will increase, enemy nations will threaten to attack--suddenly and overwhelmingly--and all trusted defenses will fail. It happened to Israel. It will happen to America if we don't soon change our ways. It's past time to look to God, repent and beg His mercy. "The similarities of the six woes in Isaiah 5 and how they relate to America today are astounding. What will we do to heed God's warnings? Will we claim ignorance and say we were never warned? While God is full of mercy, His justice will prevail. When God warns, we'd better listen because time eventually runs out. God has been warning America, but America doesn't seem to care."' -- Sam Rohrer

Once again we see the Dominionist Replacement Theology. Rohrer is comparing Israel directly to America and he is simply wrong. He once again calls for behavior modification of the goats in this country instead of looking inward to see where the church has failed this world. How we are no longer a shining city on a hill. We of course want to see the unsaved in America come to salvation but that is so much more than behavior modification. Rohrer is right in that America does not seem to care but what does he expect? To the world, the things of God are foolishness and the church is too busy writing ridiculous articles pronouncing woes over them instead of preaching the Gospel.
