Realize that there were many people there that day and not all responded the same way! Not all dropped everything and followed Jesus. I am sure that some used human wisdom and scientific methods for explaining away what Peter knew to be supernatural. Some scoffed and chalked the great catch of fish up to random chance. The Pharisees would eventually blame His miracles on the devil! People will respond to the drawing of the Gospel in many different ways but ultimately there will be two paths. Wheat or chaff. Those that find themselves on the wheat path certainly have a role. We must repent. We must see the God that stands before us through the miracle of the Gospel and see our sinfulness as Peter saw his. We must then repent of it. But that role is in response to God. It is in response to the drawing. God is not a wallflower standing against the gym wall hoping you will ask Him to dance beloved. It is His dance. He created it, He organized it and He is drawing you to it. The first step is in realizing that we are so unworthy to even be invited. Not thinking we are the homecoming king who might "give Jesus a try" if He is lucky enough. Lord forgive us.
