I wish people had run from Mark Driscoll. The church tried to turn him over to the biblical authorities albeit a bit late. He was removed from the ACTS 29 group, which he had started. His own compromised board finally was going to suspend and discipline him when Driscoll quit and ran away to Arizona. Thus, he remains a fugitive from church discipline. Following his own theology here, it is only a miracle from God that might actually see Mark Driscoll truly repent one day. I have no illusions about false teachers. Discernment ministries do not seek to rehabilitate the wolves but rather to warn the sheep.
"At this point you separate, protect yourself and establish a definite ending to the relationship with no contact or information going forward. Evil people live by the power of demonic forces to harass and harm. Because of their demonic empowerment, they are far more powerful when seeking to cause harm than they otherwise are in normal life. Evil people who move into ministry leadership become wolves who strike the shepherd in an effort to scatter the sheep. Evil people require a professional relationship with someone trained to deal wisely with their issues." - Mark Driscoll
It sounds like Driscoll is trying to play the victim still for his own sins at Mars hill. The truth is the wolf does not strike the shepherd because the wolf pretends to be the shepherd. It is the Lord who gives the order for the shepherd, who is Jesus, to be struck. That prophesy, which Driscoll vaguely alludes to, is found in Zechariah 13. The sheep scattering is a prophesy of the reaction of the apostles to Jesus being struck down through crucifixion. Although his referent is entirely wrong, Driscoll is correct that we need to be trained wisely to deal with evil men such as Mark Driscoll. The bible says we are to mark them and avoid them. Thanks for the reminder Mark.
