For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2Corinthians 10: 3-5 (NIV)
A true Christian warrior is found on their knees. Prayer is the weapon we need to be wielding as Christians. It is smarter than any smart bomb and more effective than any strategy of the enemy. We can get so easily tied up though in the thinking and politics of this world. Realize that none of it will stand before a holy and righteous God. None of it! The Prophet Micah has given us a glimpse of life after Jesus returns:
In
the last days, the mountain of the Lord 's
house will be the highest of all--the most important place on earth. It will be raised above the other
hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship.
People from many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord , to the
house of Jacob's God. There he will teach us his ways, and we will
walk in his paths." For the Lord 's
teaching will go out from
Everyone will live in peace and prosperity. Swords hammered into pruning hooks. A promise from God Himself to us today. We see the same theme throughout the Bible. From the early days through the Kings of Israel, through the prophets of old right up into the New Testament. The Apostle Paul teaches us:
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Romans 12: 17-18 (NLT)
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Ephesians 2: 14-18 (NIV)
Sometimes we just get it wrong in modern Christianity. We wave the flag and speak patriotism but forget sometimes where our true citizenship lies:
For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. Philippians 3: 18-20 (NLT)
