Think about how dangerously wrong this notion is. That focusing on what is to come is to miss the point entirely? No, no, a thousand times no Darren. You keep missing the point. The Gospel is not about this world. It is about His kingdom. The reason why God sent Christ was because we were dead in our trespasses and facing an eternity separated from God in suffering. That is why the first word Jesus utters in ministry is repent, not love. For Darren Wilson the Gospel is all about THIS life:
1. He wants to change you for this life
2. He wants to make you into the person you were meant to be in this life
3. He is now
4. He is present in your circumstances now
5. He is present in your life now
This is so narcissistically based it is pathetic. That is because to Darren Wilson the Gospel is all about me and my life now. No beloved. The Gospel is all about Him. He wants to change you to be more like Him. He wants to transform you into His image. Why? So we can have our best life now? No! So that people can see Christ in us and more might be saved before it is too late. Is He present in our lives and circumstances? Sure but the reason is for the sake of the Gospel. It is so as many who might be saved are. Not for Darren Wilson though. For him everything is about this life. Jesus saved him for this world and this life. So much so that he cannot even use Scripture correctly to try and prove his point. Let us turn to commentary for the "I am verse Wilson misuses:
"And God said unto Moses, I am that I am,.... This signifies the real being of God, his self-existence, and that he is the Being of beings; as also it denotes his eternity and immutability, and his constancy and faithfulness in fulfilling his promises, for it includes all time, past, present, and to come; and the sense is, not only I am what I am at present, but I am what I have been, and I am what I shall be, and shall be what I am." -- Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible
It denotes His eternity! Beloved, there is this life and the life that is to come. In this life we are but pilgrims and sojourners. Our citizenship is in heaven alone. God so loved the world He sent Christ to die for our sins so that we would not be held liable eternally. There is a word for that -- judgment. That is the actual essence of agape love. Not this carnal, lustful, sham presented by Darren Wilson. God just loves you and accepts you and don't worry about all those fire and brimstone guys! They just need a deeper revelation of the spirit. Again, ugh. Darren Wilson started this by asking a question he cannot answer -- what is the best way to preach the Gospel? Allow me to answer it then according to the word of God. What is the best way to preach the Gospel?
Preach all of it.
