"Well, God was there, and He knew that. But over time, He kept loving me and dealing with me, promising me what Isaiah 61:7 says: "Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours" (NIV). That's an amazing promise for us all--a promise of double for your trouble! Double the blessing ... double the joy ... double the peace! Now doesn't that inspire hope in your heart?" - Joyce Meyer
Once again we see Joyce Meyer conflating what God intended to be speaking about eternity with the greed and avarice of her own heart. Isaiah 61:7 is the key verse today and is God speaking to those who had come out of exile in Babylon. For their shame and disgrace as captives, God promises a double portion of restoration, inheritance, and everlasting joy. It is sound hermeneutically to see the direct correlation to our lives as Christians. We were once in spiritual captivity in the Babylon that is this world. We too had our shame and disgrace of sin, when we still slaves to it. But thank God almighty He did not leave us there! His Gospel led us out of captivity. Now we are seated in heavenly places and we have an inheritance of eternal life. Everlasting joy is ours beloved! How does Joyce Meyer manage to cheapen it? By pretending that these verses represent God promising everyone a double portion of sheer carnality. Double the blessing! Double for your trouble! It sounds like a late night infomercial. But wait! There's more!
"Of course, this double-blessing promise isn't for the double-minded. When you walk it out in everyday life, there will be times when doubt, fear, unbelief and weariness will come against you. It's in these times you will need to fight a good fight of faith. You will need to guard your mind against negativity about your situation. I encourage you to find out what God says about it and then stand on the promises in His Word. The Bible tells of many times when people encountered Jesus and He touched their lives, and how they wanted to stay with Him and follow Him. But He sent them home--back to everyday life--to live out and share with others what He'd done for them." -- Joyce Meyer
Like any good snake oil saleswoman, Meyer now plants the seeds of blame for those who will not see any such radical changes as she promises. If you are not experiencing the double portion blessing then it must be because you are being double minded! You have to walk it out! Fight the good fight of faith! Eliminate the stinking thinking of negativity! All carnal teachings of the wickedly deceitful human heart. I encourage you beloved to not proof text the Bible as she is recommending here. Read it thoroughly. Do the work of a Berean. Discern what God is saying and set it apart from what man is trying to say. Mercifully, Meyer ends:
They had to hold on to what He had done for them. And in the same way, we must hold on to whatever He promises us and be confident that He is working in our situation. Hope releases the power of the Holy Spirit in these times. I want to encourage you to make a decision to cultivate an attitude of hope in your life. Speak positive things about your future and refuse to be negative. You may not always feel hopeful but don't give in to your feelings. Catering to bad feelings feeds and empowers them. But standing our ground and not giving in to negative feelings starves them and causes them to lose their power over us. Just ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Line your will up with His and get excited about serving God. You could become a person who inspires others to become prisoners of hope!" -- Joyce Meyer
Faith and knowledge of scripture releases the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives beloved. Joyce Meyer ends with what brought her to the dance and made her a multi-millionaire 25 times over. Word faith heresy. Speak positive things about your future and stop being so negative! Facing the possibility of beheading for refusing to denounce Christ? I am sure positive self-talk will help! Facing persecution in the underground church? Stop being a negative Nellie! The arrogance of Meyer's theology is staggeringly ignorant. Jesus came to set the prisoners free beloved. Not to lock them back up in some prison we have created in our own minds by eviscerating Scripture. Joyce Meyer has hoped in the utter carnality of this world and wants you to become prisoner to it. To hope for thriving ministries, overflowing, riches, and Lear Jets. I feel badly for Joyce Meyer because her testimony revels that she suffered a lot of abuse at an early age. I feel badly that she has been taught so poorly that she comes up with such ridiculous theology. I feel badly because she is a prisoner of her own heresy and she is so blinded by the carnality she desires that she thinks her heresy is hope.
I feel the worst however for her followers"
