Because Mario worships this world, it is no wonder he cannot exegete his way out of a paper bag. These verses of course have nothing to do with politics and neither does the subject of lukewarm Christians. Remember at the heart of Murillo's complaint is a political disagreement, not a theological one. These verses tell us to avoid people who have a show of their religion. They have an appearance of piety, but they deny the true power of God! Instead of urging people to consider sin as an unbearable yoke that Jesus can take they mangle those scriptures to make the yoke one's voting patterns. Do not let Mario Murillo distract you from the snake oil he is selling you. He was very clear in this article. There are two types of people. Those that vote Republican and are waiting for eternal life with Jesus and those that refuse to vote as he does and as such are going to hell. As if that was bad enough, he is now urging those that might actually be willing to vote as he does to get rid of all their friends who will not vote likewise because, what would Jesus do? This is morally and spiritually bankrupt beloved. This is sick. Jesus is not checking voting records. Think of the sheer lunacy of that theology! Murillo thinks that heaven and hell with be based upon what lying politicians do after we vote for them. God forbid. We are pilgrims in this world with citizenship only in heaven. Proceed accordingly.
