Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; - Psalm 41:1 (ESV)

Consider this a discernment break from the wall to wall coverage of a bunch of Kentucky bible college students willing to stay in chapel past service end. I was pushing aside the daily influx of Asbury articles to make sure nothing was getting through such as the above linked article from Shawn Bolz. Shawn is the resident false prophet from Bethel Church and as such believes in the divine healing heresy that says God must always heal us. So many people have had their faith shipwrecked upon the shores of this heresy because when healing inevitably does not come, those weak in faith will blame God or themselves. This article finds Shawn scouring the bible for five verses he believes provide a prophetic promise for healing. To be clear, God can always heal. Why? Because He is God. Shawn teaches that God MUST heal. Why is this so wrong? Because this makes YOU God. The Lord is sovereign beloved and He shares His glory with no one! Let us reason once more together.

"There is about to be another global move of the healing gifts that will capture the attention of the media, both social and news. There will be some documentation of miracles and some sensational healings that will happen in such a way that will put God's healing nature on display, not only in the church but also in culture. God is putting a hunger in people around the world to resolve physical issues with His supernatural power. He is awakening humanity with a desire for Divine resolution. I wanted to speak over you and into you five prophetic promises for physical healing:" - Shawn Bolz

It is interesting that Bolz claims that there will be documentation to back up sensational healing claims because that is what is always missing. Even from the Asbury site we have individual claims of healing, but they are always of the "growing a shortened leg" variety. I saw a woman say that she had a serious dental problem including bone loss but that miraculously the bone had grown back. While I am sure that helped her immensely, it left me wondering if anyone in Kentucky had cancer? If God's presence is literally camped out at Asbury, why not go through the local hospital and bring people to the revival for healing that you claim God must provide? Putting that aside, let us review the five scriptures Bolz has decided to leverage for his false teaching.

"1. Psalm 41:3: "The Lord supports (will sustain, refresh and strengthen) me on my sickbed; He completely heals me from my illness." God never desired you to be sick. It was never His intention. Ask God for vision for what He really wanted when He dreamed of you before time began at this stage in your life. Was it to carry illness or injury? When we let God touch us with His love and vision for our bodies, we set ourselves up to receive His healing power." - Shawn Bolz

Yeah. No. Just horrible theology. First of all, I urge you to read some commentaries on this one verse and you will find it means more that God will provide comfort, not heal the way Shawn is selling. The truth is I do not even need to go that deep to debunk this. Psalm 41:1 is the key verse today because it provides the context Shawn is missing. Is this verse a promise from God to heal everyone? No! It is specifically addressing those who take care of the poor! That God will provide comfort for those who provided comfort for the least in society. This deception is what Bolz and Bethel do all of the time. They take one verse that they think supports their false theology. They do no research on it, provide it out of context and then start waxing deeply about God dreaming of you before time. Perhaps if they spent more time actually taking care of the poor, they would have a better understanding.
