"WE BELIEVE in the five-fold ministry of the prophet, recognizing that such prophets will also be used to bring correction, instruction, and directional clarity to the Body, but not independent of other leaders, and therefore different from the model of the independent Old Testament prophet." - Prophetic Standards
Two of the hallmarks of the apostate church system is a false authority paradigm and the belief they can just rewrite the bible by pretending the new covenant allows them to do so. Both are encompassed here in this quote. So, they believe prophets could potentially bring correction, instruction, and directional clarity but only if they bow the knee to other non-prophetic leaders, such as the false apostles we see everywhere. Except prophecy is supposed to be God speaking to the prophet, no? Why do local leaders think they're the final authority over what God has allegedly said? John Burton has written extensively on this as he believes that everyone bows down to apostles, oh and he is an apostle - how convenient! The second point here should be more disturbing. To openly admit that they are recreating prophecy in what they view as New Testament terms should be frightening. The primary difference between the new and the old is that we now have the final revealed will of God in the bible. Therefore, we do not actually need any prophet to tell us God "forgot something."
"WE RECOGNIZE that prophets do not serve as spiritual fortune tellers or prognosticators, nor is their role to satisfy our curiosity about the future or reveal abstract information. God's purpose in prophecy is redemptive, calling for repentance, giving supernatural guidance, bringing comfort, deliverance, restoration, and glorifying Jesus as Lord." - Prophetic Standards
Really. This fraternity is all about futuristic prophecies. Don't believe me? Here are some article headlines from today's Charisma News:
"Prophecy: Exposure is Coming to America's Church"
"Mario Murillo: Unprecedented Wave of Revival Coming from This Church."
"Shawn Bolz Prophesies of Catastrophic Storms in 2023."
"Signs, Signs, & More Signs: Persecution Is Coming Soon."
This is just today. Every one of these articles is speaking prophetically about the future. They are all nonsense of course but that is a secondary issue here. While these things listed here may have some accuracy to them, the group of people writing it do not adhere to what they write. They are false, through and through. They are fortune tellers, mediums, and dime store clairvoyants.
"WE RECOGNIZE that, due to the nature of prophetic ministry, some prophetic words can be submitted for evaluation before they are delivered while other words will be evaluated after they are delivered. But in all situations, those claiming to speak for God should welcome the godly evaluation of their prophecies." - Prophetic Standards
